Hi all. I'm new here though have read through many threads on the demise of bmi.

I have a dilemma and wondered if someone can help me. I am currently on 15350 status miles, I am planning to go to Egypt on business on 13th June and trying to get to 16000 status miles so then can status match with BA or another *a.

However bmi flights to Cairo are like £700, and I understand I won't be getting any miles flying *A such as Egypt air from 31st May.

How else do you think other than forking out £700 can I earn status miles with bmi.

Flying BA seems to only mention earning destination miles and not status miles for dc members.

Do you think flying a code share flight with egyptair (operated by bmi) wiil earn any status miles?

Thanks for the help in advance.

You only need 650 status miles to get to 16k for Silver.

So I'd fly a shorthaul bmi route to get them berfore all the bmi shorthaul are transferred into being BA flights. Having checked the route and fare you intent to fly will get you enough.

If only aiming for Silver, crediting a business class flight to Cairo would be a massive overkill!

Other option if UK based would be to apply for the paid credit card that gets you 4k status miles, but these would take a while to come through.

Hi thanks for the reply. I have a credit card already and thanks for suggesting short haul flight.

I wondered whether there was a way to get the status miles via this business trip to Egypt. Can anyone confirm that flying with BA will only get you destination and not status miles?

And can someone confirm also whether if egyptair code shares with bmi will I still earn any status miles after may 31st?

Thanks

Okay found this below. It's a bmi flight operated by Egypt air flying on 13 June class e it says so according to bmi that's 0.25 x miles. Just wanted to clarify that bmi will definitely give me the status miles, even though only 0.25x the miles as it will give me around 1000 miles on a return trip. Can someone confirm?

I'd be far from certain that Egyptair will credit any miles at all to bmi after 31 May. If you really want status your best bet is to do a return flight to Dublin before the 12th of June (when the next lot of bmi flights to go BA). Will net you 800 status miles and as a result silver status!

Although it has a bmi flight number, it is still an Egyptair flight so no earning after 31st may UNLESS bmi change their current rules and allow miles to be earnt for codeshare flights irrespective of metal
