May 26, 12, 7:29 am
New fares from May 25, '12
BIT: € 1,50, 100'
BIG: € 6,00, 1 day (00:00 - 24:00)
BTI: € 16,50, 3 days
CIS: € 24,00, 7 days
Those increases are 50%! The B.I.R.G. tickets also went up... about 33%. The 5-zone ticket to Civitavecchia is now 12€ instead of the previous 9€. See this post (http://tinyurl.com/ATAC-increase) for more price increase info... OUCH!
When was the last increase? What's the CPI increase since then?

Don't remember, but many years ago.
Prices have been soaring for years, nowadays 1 € in Rome is nothing.

You have to pay to use the buses ;)
Relatively speaking, it's $2.25 for a one-way ticket on the NYC subway so 1.5 euro doesn't seem so bad in this perspective. Still criminal in my opinion.
I've witnessed two instances in which an Italian argued their way out of a fine from the Controllers. It seems nowadays that they're really cracking down though. Any first-hand experiences recently?
