Air France Frequence Plus - Question about change fees and dropping one segment of a flight

Hi,

A friend of mine booked a paid ticket (L class) on Air France in September round-trip to Pisa, Italy via CDG (Paris). Currently, the connecting time is 6 hours. That probably is not sufficient to go from CDG into Paris to sightsee and then come back out to the airport. So, I have a two-fold question:
- what is the change fee on Air France, if any, if I wanted to connect on the same exact flight but just change the flight to the next day?
- If I decided to stay in Paris and just not catch the connecting flight to Pisa on that same day (and chose to either take the train or buy a separate air ticket from Paris to Pisa), would Air France cancel all the retrn portions of the ticket?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

My answer to the two questions:
1) the change fee is whatever it says on his booking. Even within a fare bucket L there are different fares with different flexibility. But the change fee should be hefty. And you would have to check that the fare allows a stopover (more than 24 hours stop).
2) Yes, the rest of the ticket would be canceled.

And 2 bis) your friend must be a total masochist if he is considering doing Paris-Pisa by train. Think of a rather uncomfortable trip of about 12 hours! Yikes! ;)

1) As the total transfer time would be 24 + 6 hours, this is considered to be a stopover and not a transfer. This probably requires to buy up to a fare class that allows stopovers.
Is there not another flight within the 24 hour window that is satisfactory? Perhaps by also changing the feeder flight, so that your friend arrives in the morning at Paris and leaves either in the evening or (very) early the next day?

With six hours, one could go into Paris but there would not be very much time to do stuff.
