Which hard-shell carry-ons really do fit the American Airlines 22 x 14 x 9" carry-on required dimensions, including wheels?

From reading the below, sounds like I can't trust what I read on manufacturer's websites or eBags about dimensions.

And, you might want to reconsider the 22" size. Sizes on websites do not include wheels. Once you add in wheels, strictly speaking, they are often outside the legal size limits of carry-ons. This is a problem with almost all manufacturers and isn't localized to just Travelpro.

I doubt any manufacturer's 22" hard sided carry on would fit, formally. But I bet plenty of 20" hard sided bags would.

You can trust the measurements from Zappos. They do their own measurements.

If you want a spinner, Hartman 20" pc4 rolls very nice and is as lit as you are going to get for a spinner.

Just used one on a three day trip (two suits packed, extra pair of shoes, running clothes). Filled to the brim but that was my first use. I might get better at packing it over time.

I am smitten by that Hartmann PC4.

Aside from price, how would you critique and compare these 2?

Samsonite Winfield 2 20" Spinner

Hartmann Luggage PC4 International Carry-On

One downside for the Hartmann is I'd need to ship the Hartmann off for repair. They don't have a repair center in either Dallas/Austin or Tampa/Orlando.

Rimowa Classic Flight IATA will fit.

Rimowa Classic Flight IATA will fit.

I though that too, but they seem to be too wide. The AA size seems to be 14" wide which is about 35 cm. The Rimowa 'IATA' cases are 40 cm wide.

I havent looked at the samsonite. I have the lift 22" which is actually 23.5" tall (). They are about the same weight (5.5lbs). Both roll well and are light.

The Hartman was the first time I used a clamshell, I liked it
but I'm not convinced you couldn't get
More stuff in a single compartment.

One other comment. If you are going to carry this on or valet it on smaller flights I doubt you will damage either bag. My samsonite lift was checked once and the wheel was damaged. I had to buy one and replace myself.
