Hello Fellow FT,

My family has a wedding in ATL, looking for advice on which airline award travel has the best bang for the least amount of miles...

i have not churn any cc within the last 18 months so I am willing to do so if necessary.

I currently have AA/BA miles

Thank you for your input in advance

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.1030 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/417)

Since you are not flexible as to your dates of travel, you should just price the awards at aa.com, united.com, delta.com, etc., and see how many miles each program wants for those dates.

Of course, if you have to sign up for credit cards, there is no guarantee that the award seats that are available today will still be available when your bonus miles post.

Delta will have the most daily flights, aa will have better low level awards possibly. Consider expanding your search to lax if you can't find what your looking for.

Hello FT,

I looked at delta since ATL is like their home base, 37500 miles per one way...

Still looking :(

The direct flight DL104 is 32500 miles one way in economy. Delta is the only airline that flies this route so you don't have much choice. If you're willing to make connections, you can fly AA via DFW on an F Saver award. You can also fly UA, via DEN on a F Saver award. This isn't the best redemption of miles as you can purchase the ticket in Y for $500.

You must be looking wrong. Delta is 32,500 round trip with direct flight on 20 Sep at 6:45 am and one-stop on 24 Sep through SLC at 9:50 am.

DL does not offer one-way awards at half of round-trip pricing. What you want to do is search one-ways (and possibly segment-by-segment) looking for 25K (low economy). Then when you put together segments that were 25K for the outbound and 25K for the return, it will all come up as 25K.

Delta is your best option. I flew Delta to Atlanta for 25K miles and 42.5 miles - first class one way. The best way flying there for me is to fly out of San Diego around 10:30 pm and then I am in Atlanta early morning before traffic starts.

It's $242 return on Frontier... save your miles.

Southwest points work well for stuff like this. Availability is not a problem and they are tied to the ticket cost so they dont cost too many points.

If you havent done CC's you could do the southwest personal + biz to go for the companion pass too, works great for domestic travel.
