bmi will end all flights to & from ADD by the middle of June due to commercial reasons.

During the last year we’ve reduced our schedule has been reduced from a daily service down to four and then three per week. Since mid-April we have been flying just twice a week. Despite all of these changes the route remains weak and is unsustainable at this time.

The last departure from Heathrow will be on Sunday 10 June, the last departure from Addis Ababa will be on Monday 11 June. Customers affected will be reaccommodated on other carriers or refunded.

The route currently operates five times a week via Amman, Jordan. The Heathrow-Amman flights are unaffected by this decision and remain at ten flights per week, it is only the Amman to Addis Ababa flights that are suspended.

So BA are honouring the bmi summer schedule so long as it is a route that is commercially viable. Again, not exactly a "book with confidence" situation.

To be fair, BD did do this kind of thing as well routinely.

I'm amazed it survived the arrival of Ethiopian in Star earlier ths year tbh. I wonder if KRT will survive; coming back from BEY the other day the pax on the inbound from KRT were easily outnumbered by the crew.

Have to agree with Jetstreamer - this claim to be operating the summer schedule is a total fallacy and I'd rather they were a little more honest about the timeframes.

Bmibaby are currently using the 'Book with Confidence' strap line. What a joke British Airways, both for Mainline, Regional (goodbye LBA-EDI/GLA) and Bmibaby (goodbye BHD).

This brings no credit to BA at all.

Regional has been sold, so you can't blame BA for any route cancellations there.

However they are starting up LHR-LBA again. I suspect most people on this board will find that far more useful than flights to ADD.

But they hadn't been sold when the routes were pulled with about a week's notice.

The issue here is surely that no one was booking.

Actually, didn't the BMR cancellations LBA-GLA/EDI happen just before the BA takeover?

The notice was issued on 16th April, and hosted on Lufthansa web servers:
