Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Converting SQ J Saver award to *A Partner award

Hoping someone knows the answer to this one.

I have a confirmed and ticketed SQ J Saver award, with the 15% discount, BNE-SIN-FRA-xSIN-BNE (with the 1 stopover on the way out). Because of a change in plans, it now makes much more sense for me to do BNE-SIN-FRA-xVIE-xBKK-xSIN-BNE, which is exactly the 6 sectors allowed, still with only 1 stopover (the others are all within 24 hours).

I realise I'll lose the 15% discount, and pay the higher price for a partner award - that's all fine with me.

I'll be keeping the same flights as my confirmed ticket for BNE-SIN, SIN-FRA out, and SIN-BNE back, simply changing the FRA-SIN to FRA-VIE-BKK-SIN. The problem is that all those sectors are now waitlist only.

Does anyone know if it is possible to retain the same PNR, book in the new required segments, cancel out the unwanted segment, and re-ticket, thus retaining my confirmed seats on the 3 identical segments?

And, which of the change fees would be applicable? A partner re-issue, or a redeposit miles fee?

The one agent I've rung has said I'll need to make a whole new booking and waitlist, and run the risk of the duplicate checker cancelling me out. Will try ringing again, but thought I'd seek the collective wisdom of FT first.
