For anyone who has access to an xExec portal, if you log in (links are company specific) there should be an offer for one year of AmEx Gold card (with 22,000 miles on sign up after meeting the minimum spend requirement) for a £0 annual fee!

It's probably a bit late for making use of these in Diamond Club, but it's a handy way to earn 22,000 Avios (or any of the other things MR points can be exchanged for).

This offer is a public one with two variants:

Apply via Quidco and get £10 cashback and 20,000 points sign-up

Get a referral from an Amex Plat or Amex Gold cardholder and get 22,000 points sign-up (and the referrer gets 12k)

Small print says that any existing Amex customer is blocked.

Anyone know if this is a typical Amex restriction? I don't want to rule getting 40k for a Plat application later.

Damn shame, i've had this card before, so i'm out. Does anyone know if this is likely to be common policy now, hence ruling out the 40k plat for me?

From the Plat Card application

The 40,000 Membership Rewards bonus points will be awarded onto your account once you have been approved and you have spent and charged £1,500 within the first 3 months of Cardmembership. All introductory offers are subject to change, can be withdrawn at any time and are not available to existing American Express customers. Please note that it can take up to one month for bonus points to be awarded to your account.

TBH it's perhaps worth trying it again on the Gold if you haven't held the card for a while, via either the Quidco or a referral (happy to help), just to see if you can get the 22K points

Ah, ok. I didn't realise they were offering to waive the annual fee for all applications!
