Is there anyone in the USA who makes prepacked frozen kosher meals (similar to the Hermolis meals available in the UK)? Not the long life Meal Mark offerings, please, which are quite awful, but something of a higher quality. I would need delivery to an address in Monsey, NY.

Thanks in advance

There is a company called MyOwnMeal based outside Chicago that makes very good, shelf-stable microwave meals. They do not require refrigeration and are much, much better than the Meal Mart or La Bruite ones. A couple of stores in Teaneck carry them invidivually or you can order them by the case (i believe its 12 to a case) directly from MyOwnMeals. http://www.myownmeals.com/. I have used these for the last year or two when traveling internationally and they are surprisingly good.

Alternatively, Noah's Ark in Teaneck will package frozen meals for you if you'd prefer that. Not sure if they would ship to Monsey though. I'm sure there is a similar take out place in Monsey that would do it for you.

These guys are based in Monsey -- their food is very good. I myself haven't ordered from them, but my company has used them to provide me with food at their business events.

Thanks for the link! However, their prices seem completely outrageous compared with the Hermolis meals in the UK which are also of a high quality.I have usually found kosher products cheaper in the USA than in the UK.

theres a Schicks take out on 12th ave in boro park, sorry I dont know their tel#. I havent tried them but I do get my meals in a can from them eg grilled chicken and rice or potatoes. Its cooked and just need a can opener and warm it up under the hot water in a sink it wont be Hot but it would be cold either. This way I dont need a microwave ora fridge to store the food. My problem is lately Ive been flying with just my carry-on rollerboard so TSA wont allow the cans thru :td: I know they ship the cans worldwide Im sure they could get their frozen meals to anywhere as well. I wouldnt call it gourmet meals, but in the middle of no where it worked just great.

I 2nd your thoughts on the slop LaBriute wouldnt feed it to a dog, and m sure adog wouldnt eat it either

I am quite sure about that! We traveled to Bryce/Zion Canyons last year and were flying direct from TLV to LAX and then connecting to a flight to LAS. I was in London before and bought the LaBriute there knowing we wouldn't have time to get them en route ... what a waste of schlepping! It really was completely inedible. Why on earth kosher meals have to be quite so awful is beyond me.

The company Tuv Taam makes frozen microwaveable entrees (I believe only dairy and parve) and most are really very good. They are sold in most kosher supermarkets and you would probably be able to order them from any kosher supermarket in Monsey that delivers.

I used La Briute for a 7 day 7 member family trip where no Kosher food, electricity or microwave was available

While I agree that some of the choices were pretty bad and none of them resembled the picture on the package, there were quite a few edible and good choices. We heated up 8 packages for each meal and mixed and matched. It really wasn't that bad especially when the alternative was tuna

Would I order it if I had access to a microwave- probably not.

Would I order it again if I had no electric access--probably yes

Interesting ... after our own experiences with them (twice, with a different selection each time) we have concluded that ... tuna is FAR preferable!

I use Noahs Ark in Teaneck.

They have shipped meals for up to a week for me to California, Mexico, Bermuda, Jamaica and other places.

The last Hermolis meal that I got, on the enclosed note it said "Contact your travel professional to order Hermolis for your next flight"

Is this true? Can you just buy Hermolis in advance for a flight?

AFAIK there is no way to specify which KSML vendor you want. Bout all you can do is ask for KSML and hope that Carriers caterer works with Hermolis and that Hermolis serves the airport/s you will be departing from

I would take it if there even was a way to preorder and buy on your own a KSML again you wouldnt be able to specify Hermolis. Could be out of the UK things are different especially with the LCCs that do sell meals

For some unknown reason out of Asia they use KoshAir , out of Europe Ive always gotten the local caterer. But Ive being running to Asia lately rather then Europe The 1 exception is SYD where it was the local folks

So HKG,NRT,KIX,SIN have been KoshAir Out of HKG it isnt that bad as there are plenty of places in HKG to eat and get food for the road.

Referring specifically to UA here...

What have you gotten ex-LHR? I, for some absurd reason, once had Hamasbia, complete with the Hebrew and Netanya address. (I thought for a moment that Hamasbia may also have London operations.) I forget whether this was an sCO route (LHR-EWR) or an sUA route (LHR-IAD). It was post-merger though
