Now that TK are screwing my plans up by blocking award bookings, I am looking at alternatives.

Originally I wanted to fly DUB-IST-PEK::PEK-SYD-AKL as there should have been availability on all legs (still is :mad:.....)

Air China have one seat available in I and plenty in X if I wanted to fly (DUB-)LHR-PEK and I have asked the Air China office here in AKL whether they can open up a second redemption seat. The reply I got was:

Book one business seat confirmed and then put a waitlist on the other one .Or you can book the other one in economy , I will put it on waitlist, just let me know the airline’s locator

Can BMI Diamond Club put a flight on a waitlist for business for Air China?

If I can get the other seat opened up how would this work? Would I need to get confirmation from Air China here, and then ring the ICC again and get the flight changed? Presumably the Air China office would not be able to change the booking as there may be different taxes etc.....?

Is there a risk that I will be left in Economy and Mrs SpudGun in Business for the LHR-PEK leg?

ICC will never book a seat on waitlist.

Funny that CA in AKL will do that.

I would book the first seat and see if the second one opens up - it does with some airlines (not sure about CA). Then email CA again. Worst that can happen is that you have to reroute. Or maybe try SAS via CPH.

Thanks for the pointer, sas won't be possible sadly as it is too early for their availability, when it does, DC will be no more :-(

ICC saying that the LHR flight is "waitlist closed" in business class even though ExpertFlyer saying that there is one seat available

What does ANA say? The Expertflyer Inventory for CA is normally based on what is available to their members and doesn't necessarily mean it is available for partners.

Unfortunately it is beyond the available 330 days.

Aeroplan shows it as available too.

Same thing happening with Asiana too - seats show available but not bookable

Have booked two seats from FCO-PEK-SYD-AKL instead :-I
