So I look at the Kayak.com/Explore screen for flights from San Francisco, and I see $150 to Seattle and $180 to Austin. Great prices!
If I click the $150 for Seattle link, and then click the $150 per person for Seattle link, it brings up a dialog box with dates of 06/06/12 outgoing and 06/09/12 return. I assume (incorrectly) that these must be the dates that would allow me to get the $150 price. If I then click the Search button in that dialog box, it brings up a screen full of flights, but the lowest price is $198, not $150.
If I do the same thing for Austin starting with the $180 link, I end up on a screen full of flights, but the lowest price is $270, not $180.
So how do I find out the dates that would allow me to get the low fares instead of the higher fares that show up when I accept the dates that Kayak provides? And why does Kayak give me default dates that don't offer the low prices from the initial Explore screen?
I'd sure appreciate some help here. Thanks!
