Just read the faq.
In principle it seems like a nice idea, but waiting 24 hours to find out if you made the list or not doesnt really get me excited. The offer to upgrade should be made at the the time of booking and confirmed as well.
Just like other airlines.
They also offer a foot stool with this service..for what?
So my that my knees to can meet my face?

i am trying to figure out which 747 flights in july have this, but cannot .
looking at the seat maps, they look the same as before.
i presume that if there are 5-8 rows of economy+, then at least one row should be removed from the cabin..
any idea ?

according to the article in Yedioth today, the added space will not be at the expense of removing rows, but on the expense of storage places.
i cant see how they can have the exonomy+ and a curtain in the current configuration of the 747 or even 777 without moving somthine (except for the nose part of the ELH)

ELAL is an experiment on how fast you can ruin in 10 years. unfortunately ELAL will always be salvaged by the Israeli government, so no CEO really cares about the performance of the company.
The company knows that Israeli passengers would love 2 bags of baggage, and had the opportunity to differentiate itself from other airlines - it didn't. Also as commented on the Tapuz forum - the benefits of the new class are ridiculous.

I guess if we look at it as a bit of a bonus for LY's premium Matmid members then it's an ok offering, but I would probably still prefer an exit seat.

Inasmuch as they are giving it free to premium members and those on M tickets--I don't see it being readily available for the general public.
BTW it is not just Israelis who would like 2 pieces of luggage --ALL travelers would.
AS a lowly Silver who flies business my luggage allotment was cut to 2 bags of 70lbs each. NOw mind you, I never traveled with more than 140 lbs BUT it was distributed over 3 bags so I could actually carry them. I do not look forward to shelpping 70lb suitcases on and off a luggage conveyor belt.

What I've meant is that of course all passengers would like more baggage allowance, but Israeli families are really going for the max regarding shopping abroad.
Anyway I personally would prefer any other airline on ELAL, and I really don't see the difference between the regular economy and the new one. Too late, Too Little.

Unless you're a premium member, you book Premium Economy but that doesn't mean you actually will end up sitting there because you have to wait and see if you have "won" the right to do so a day before your flight...

Incorrect. There's a big difference between "Premium Economy" (which is the European model, such as BA, VS, AF, and QF,) and "Economy Plus" (which is the American model, such as UA, DL, AA, and B6).
LY is using the American model. Take UA, for example. All Economy Plus is is a few inches extra of seat pitch. The seat is the exact same. Even recline is the exact same. And Golds and higher can select it free of charge, and at T-24, Silvers can too. (Silvers used to be able to select it free of charge until this past March.) For others, it's a fee, that's around $100 for TLV-EWR. And it's similar on the other American airlines I mentioned.

talked to an ElAl rep yesterday about my seats on a 747 flight to NYC.
the front 5 rows 21-25 are economy plus seats.
i didnt ask if this includes the middle seats at row 25 as those are supposed to be with a bassinet option.
because of this change, they moved the people who were seated there a couple of rows back.
seat 21A which was a premium seat, but not chargeble because of the door slide that restricts a bit the leg room, is now economy plus so 150$ instead of ZERO before that.
i think that economy rows 23/24 are very bad ones as they are right next to the kitchen. which means constant noise, and light.
what i dont understand is - this kitchen is supposed to serve all the front economy cabin... and now they are going to have a curtain between the economy plus and regular economy...
this means that Israelis despite the curtain will continue to walk back and forth into the kitchen no matter there is a curtain.

Row 21 has benn moved a bit back so that 21a and k are no longer obstructed.
Row 25 middle is still a bassinet. You can and likely will get a screaming baby along with your $150 seat.
22 23 and 24 are disasters, notwithstanding, because of the galley.
I have yet to see the economy plus curtain actually be unraveled. It just sits there wrapped up. If they actually opened it, it would still be irrelevant as it only covers the aisle itself.

Looks like the best row to get (with endless legroom) is row 6 (one side is pre-blocked, the other side is taken).
Does anybody know what the legroom situation is like in row 12 (row of 2 in the middle)?

I was sitting in the back row..the lady sitting there (next to my seat with the hoodie and ear phones) happened to also be on my return flight as I bumped into her at the BG Airport.

Those 2 seats in front of my own are probably the best.

The area slightly ahead to my right was completely empty. The FA seats fold out by the emerg exit (which is on the right hand side of the screen), and then its just more empty space. It was a nice little corner to walk about in and stretch.

I was sitting in the back row..the lady sitting there (next to my seat with the hoodie and ear phones) happened to also be on my return flight as I bumped into her at the BG Airport.

The area slightly ahead to my right was completely empty. The FA seats fold out by the emerg exit (which is on the right hand side of the screen), and then its just more empty space. It was a nice little corner to walk about in and stretch.

I've been a long time reader of the posts on this board and only recently started posting myself. I saw the above link and this thread about a week before my meeting with Danny Saadon at the end of May in New York.
During our meeting, which lasted well over 1 hour, I showed him the above interview. After seeing it, Saadon tried to explain to me that Shkedy's english is actually very good and that he just couldn't find the right words during that interview. When I then said I know others inside the company who told me his English is really that bad, Saadon changed the subject.
What was funnier than Saadon's reaction to the above Shkedy interview was that he had no idea what Flyertalk was. I explained to him what goes on in this forum and told him that he and other top executives at LY should read the posts here at least occasionally. The fact that Saadon and other top managers at LY did not even know of the existence of this type of forum that discusses their company and their product just goes to show how out of touch they are.
