Travel Technology - Notifications in Apple iOS should be opt-in!

I hope Apple makes application notifications opt-in or default off, because it is very annoying to update or get new applications and find them running in notifications. It is very frustrating and bad on battery life to find out that all these apps are running with notifications in default on. If iOS can ask about application location services - it should be able to ask about notifications.

I had a coworker who was having battery problems and I had her turn off 20 applications that had decided to auto-on in notifications.

Am I alone?

You control them by app. Go in to settings and choose which ones you want turned off,

When you install the app it asks if you want to receive notifications, you have to say no, but every app does ask

You sure about every app asking about notifications? I get location services, but not notifications alerts when installing apps.

I know how to control them through settings.

MR_MAMA is right...the first time you run an app after install, it will ask if you want notifications. By default iOS intercepts the notification feature on first-run of all apps and asks for your permission to send notifications. There is no "default on" or "default off" in any app.
