I have so far earned 200000 points this year and am on track for half a million by the end of this year, why dont PC recognise their more frequent customers with a higher level of rewards (Diamond) say for 250000/year?

Because it is far too easy to get hundreds thousand points with PC. They recognise youby nights you stay in IHG and give you RA if you stay a lot (and being an Ambassador member).

Reminds me of a buddy in Oz who bought a helicopter on his Amex and has been using the airline miles ever since.......

Got you beat, and shooting for 600-700k this year.
I wish they did have a higher level, but I understand they don't because the points are just so darn easy to get. Not that I am complaining. The large number of free rooms I am getting for a 2-3 month vacation next year is extra reward enough for me.

200K indicates that you could have had as few as 25 one night IC stays.

700,000 points is hardly something that makes you exceptional at PC.
I do continue to be an advocate for not banking my points, and if
nothing else redeem them for retail gift cards as I hit around a quarter million each time.
I still remember how one day there were airline ticket rewards, and the very next day they were gone. As well as some other gifts that have dissapeared suddenly.
While not lavish in their gifting, I receive things from time to time above and beyond the usual. It seems that not everyone does, and no, with apologies, I would not be willing to share what those "considerations" are.

I agree that PC should do a better job differentiating elite status levels. I have stayed 9 nights this year and earned over 50k points, most of them from promos. Platinum requires 50 nights or a paltry 60k points. ...Not that I even need to get to 60k to renew Plat anyway, as it's now granted to me automatically for holding the Chase Visa. PC is missing a chance to build loyalty with this program.

Just talked to a guy in the lobby on the hotel I am staying in. He is excited he is about to make platinum. He has almost 40 nights in PC hotels so far this year and will hit platinum soon on points. I asked him if he ever sees or signs up for any promotions. He replied they are a waste of time. I decided not to correct him.

All kinds of beat for all kinds of feet...
I think we FT'ers tend to forget that for the general population any card over the entry level in ANY program (hotel, airline) is a BIG thing. I hear from my collegues praise of the wonders of their new PC Gold (!) card or OneWorld Ruby card. I have no heart to explain the difference between my Plat RA and a PC Gold :D

Again, for some that is our total after Q1.
I would have said 50 or 75 minimum.
For a while there was a demarcation at 100.
Myself, I always thought a "top 2%" or "top 1%" stamp on my card to go with the letter we used to receive would be a better idea.
