Hey there,

I am trying to find some advice on how to get to French Polynesia around March 2013. I want to join a friend on boat sailing exploring FP and then probably further to the Cook Islands.

Seems like at around 1800 EUR Air France is the cheapest flight I can find to get to FP. Not quite a steal.

I've also have some Quantas FF miles I really should use before they expire. So I thought I could maybe combine this with a visit in Australia. But even flights from Australia seem to be quite expensive.

One idea could be use get a Round The World ticket - but I am not sure which programs will allow a stop on the Cooks or FP. Seems like most RTW only allow Fiji.

Another Option could be to fly to the Cooks and take a flight from there? I probably have to fly in one direction anyway.

Anyway - any advice appreciated.

cheers,
Torsten

EUR 1800 is about as low as you will find. On Oneworld you can get to PPT from SCL on LA, so you have to have xONE5 ticket if you want to visit both Australia and PPT. Otherwise NZ (STAR) flies to most of the south pacific. Not cheaper using RTW ticket but with more travel and maybe flexibility. There are no good solutions for what you want to do (that I've found in the past).

Got room on the boat for a second mate? =D...

1800EUR is probably the cheapest although you'd probably want to do an Open Jaw ticket i.e FRA-PPT//RAR-FRA on ANZ.
