Hi all,

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I am finding it hard to get a definitive answer on the Air New Zealand site – I am flying premium economy return bne-akl-lax in October and have added my velocity number (velocity gold) to the booking.

Will I able to make a bid with the oneup system when it comes online in July or do I need to join airpoints in order to make a bid?

Thanks!
Chris

Very interesting question. All material on the site and T&C used the term "member", plus it got to be done through the myairnz protal.... so, you probably got to be with their member..

But it also raise another question, how is the point earning going to work with oneup, if im trying to credit to another airline.

No, I've seen Plusgrade's marketing material for airlines which they use to sell them "OneUp".

It's all about additional revenue - a large part of which actually goes to Plusgrade - and it is completely indifferent to loyalty or status.

Basically, if they know your email address they will send you an email offering the chance to bid for a paid upgrade. The more people make an offer, the higher the bid they can hope to accept.

The only limitation so far has been the outdated booking system which doesn't allow non frequent flyers to manage their booking online easily.

You could change your name to Mr "I Hate Air New Zealand" and burn your Airpoints card in front of the Beehive on national TV, and they would still send you an email offering you a Plusgrade OneUp bid.

You don't have to have an email address.

I book my travel through a travel agent am I eligible to make a OneUp™ offer?

Answer:
From the 12th of July 2012 Airpoints™ members who book through a travel agent will be able to request an OneUp™ upgrade through myairnz.com up to seven days prior to scheduled flight and pay for any accepted offer with Airpoints Dollars™ (or credit card, prepaid debit card or debit card).

Alternatively Airpoints members can request their travel agent make an offer on their behalf using the travel agents online form.

As a follow-on question to this, if I request a recognition or airpoints upgrade while I have my NZ*S number attached to the booking as the status field and Velocity Plat as earning, can I then change the status field to my Velocity Plat as well and still have the same chances of the upgrade clearing?

Thanks everyone for the answers.

Will wait until 12th of July and give it a go!
