I signed up for Radisson Big Night giveaway for me and my wife's account. and i have trip coming up in june to los angeles mainly to visit universal studios and hollywood area, so i was planning to book carlson hotels to satisfy the terms and conditions for big night giveaway.

- planning to stay Radisson Chatsworth and Country Inn & Suites Calabasas, any feedback, how is the hotel and stuff?
- is advanced purchase rate eligible for BNG offer, or do i need to book a regular rate room?
- will stay 2 nights at Country Inn and 1 night in Radisoon, have parents with me, so will book 2 rooms, 1 with my account and the other with my wife's account
- any experience with these 2 properties to get BRG, is it easy to find the lower rate on other sites to file BRG?

thanks in advance for all the feedback.

I haven't stayed at this hotels. You can read reviews http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32655-d84434-Reviews-Radisson_Hotel_Chatsworth-Los_Angeles_California.html

I don't know where you are coming from (city, country), but I wouldn't choose those locations (towns) to stay at if I was a tourist to LA. I would choose HI on Highland ave, much more convenient location with metro station close by. Nice rooms - I booked it for my friends from Europe and saw the rooms.Only con - they charge for parking, but I think you can park overnight at Kodak and it would be cheaper.

If you chose Calabasas and Chatsworth -prepare for traffic.
In Universal - you can park your car near metro station and take shuttle up the mountain (located across the street). Or choose general parking, no need for premium - your car will be in the sun all day vs garage within few meters from each other.

Have a wonderful stay.

PS Sorry, just realized that hotel I am suggesting is IHG not Carlson.
I see you posted your question several times in different threads - in one you mention Glendale location, which is not far from Pasadena area with Huntington Library/Botanical Gardens that you may enjoy.

thanks for the comments, i was originally thinking of booking hilton in glendale, but then carlson promo came along, and so changed the plan. this will allow me to earn 90K points in 2 accounts, which i cannot pass it up.

I wouldn't stay in either of those locations for a tourism trip. There just isn't ANYTHING worth doing around there. These are primarily business and residential areas.

You could go another half hour up the coast and stay at either the Port Hueneme or Ventura locations and be in walking distance of a really nice beach. Although both of those properties have seen better days.

There is also a Radisson near LAX that you could hit on your way out if you have a morning flight. Radisonn downtown (near USC), while not in a great neighborhood, would be better situated for the LA tourist attractions. There is also Buena Park, right near Disneyland but not near Hollywood.

as i mentioned in the earlier post, i am only visiting hollywood area, universal studios, which are like 20 miles from chatsworth area.

usc is too expensive, buena park is even far, and lax is not too good location. i will have a car, and starting little early due to traffic/distance is a trade-off i can live with, then staying in a not so good area.

I'm not staying at that location but I just submitted a BRG from expedia.com comparing the REFUNDABLE rate to the REFUNDABLE rate on country inn and suites. A difference of $9 for me.

I also included in the comments on the BRG that if it would prohibit me from getting the points I would need to know first. And of course I did a screen shot of that statement in the comments as well as the two website rates - just in case.

Looks like the CI Calabasas is no longer a CI or part of the Carlson chain...no longer coming up on the website.

Drove by there today. It's closed and there is a sign saying that it will reopen in May as "The Anza, a Calabasas Hotel".

I've been in CI Calabasas and Radisson @ LAX in August 2012;
CI is a good hotel, firendly staff, nice rooms (CI style!), the location was very nice for me because i was using to reach malibu, zuma beach etc. in 15', and it's located in a nice neighborhood on the LA hills (very nice in summer), i loved that place, really! i think it's underrated, and is a very good location, firthermore you're very near at the highway, and you can go to the opposite part of LA within 30'! i really suggest it if you want to go to the beach and have relax!

about Radisson LAX: overrated on TA, very expensive, nice staff but not so friendly, hotel that needs absolutely a refurbishment, especially the suite at the top floor! it's perfect if you have a flight from LAX in the early morning because they provide a free bus transfer to the apt, but you can reach it within 3 min walk!
furthermore, the car parking would cost 25-35$ per day and you have NO possibility of free parking within 3 miles! i do not suggest it, except if you have to fly from LAX!

finally, there's a Radisson near the studios (if i correctly remember), maybe it would be easy for you to take that one!

Absolutly Not true (the price may be correct) theres parking all over , just read the signs when you cant park or when you must pay but Ive parked around the corner on 98th St several times when staying at the Rad and once on the same street that the shuttle bus enters on (dont know the name but theres only a few spots)

maybe i do not remember correctly, but on Aug 2012 i remember that i drove for 10 min, looking for a parking on public street: had no way to find one!
anyway happy to be on mistake!
