I have been renting with Hertz for about a year now and have 18 rentals YTD. I have managed to work around the underage fees by way of PC# 144314, however this is not a possibility when using Hertz Rewards Points. I have thousands of Hertz points that are virtually worthless because by the time I rent a vehicle, the taxes and underage fees are about the same as if I were to pay out of pocket. I really feel like the under 25 group gets the shaft sometimes - some of whom are responsible, working, loyal, and PAYING customers. Hertz needs to work out another way to utilize points for rentals rather than a PC Code. If they used a CDP for example, I would then be able to use the underage fee waive PC code and everything would be fine. Is anyone else frustrated with this?
I also wanted to address the renting of prestige/luxury vehicles to the under 25 crowd. I have rented several Prestige vehicles - Volvo S60, S80, C70, Cadillac Escalade and CTS 2-dr, Infiniti QX56, FX35, M45, G37 etc. I have never had a problem with renting or upgrading to these vehicles until my local airport location manager noticed I am under 25 (i'm 23) and now refuses to put me in one of these vehicles. This manager is a good guy and is simply following procedure which I do understand. How is it that I am able to rent a $50k suv (Suburban/Tahoe/Explorer) but not rent a $30k-$40k Volvo? One of the reasons I am so loyal to Hertz is due to the higher end vehicle selection but the fact that my local airport location won't let me rent these vehicles is unreasonable. I am accountable via my insurance no matter what vehicle I drive and I certainly pay for the premium vehicles so it's frustrating. Hertz needs to understand younger adults like myself who are working in the professional world and who make a decent wage shouldn't be confined to Premium vehicles and below. Feel free to weigh in and sorry for the rant!
