Booked on HA LAX-HNL in F later this year. It's not clear if VS miles can be earned on this route.

On the HA page on the VS website (http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/us/frequentflyer/fcpartners/airlines/hawaiianairlines.jsp?bfSubmit1.y=9&bfSubmit1.x=25), it lists the accruing scheme for "Trans Pacific" and "InterIsland" flights, but it's not clear if "Trans Pacific" means flights between Hawaii and the US mainland. HA has Hawaii-Asia\Australia flights which could probably be easier defined as "Trans Pacific."

Can one earn VS miles on this routing? Thanks.

Glancing at the Virgin Atlantic website, I would interpret Trans-Pacific to mean Asia, Australia, and the Mainland US. It seems to distinguish between interisland (short) and trans-pacific (over Pacific ocean) flights.

I usually earn VS miles on HA flights between LAX and HNL. What matters is the booking class of your HA ticket, which makes you eligible or not for earning VS miles on transpacific flights. See Terms and Conditions of the webpage that was supplied by the OP.

It is a P fare, which according to the VS site is eligable to earn VS miles on "Trans Pacific" flights. It's just the definitionn of "trans pacific" is what stumped me. Glad you earned miles on your LAX-HNL flights. I hope they were properly earned and not a result of an IT oversite.

Cheers for your response. FYI: VS mileage credit for HA flights are never automatically uploaded to the VS FC system. You'll have to use the procedures under the VS "Claim Missing Miles" to get your miles credited, as far as I can remember. VS always asks to wait about 30 days after your flight and then use Claim Missing Miles for the mileage credit, if no mileage credit automatically appears in your VS account.
