Alitalia MilleMiglia - Special Offer: 20% Off AZ Flights Booked This Weekend

20% off all economy or business class (www.alitalia.com/IT_IT/special_offers/promo_weekend.aspx) (not premium economy) bookings made on www.alitalia.com between 12:00 18th May and 12:00 21st May (for flights until 15th April 2013).

Seems to be available in most (all?) markets. Special offer code is 'SPECIAL20IT' for Italy, 'SPECIAL20GB' for UK, etc.

I am interested in MSP-FCO-CTA, and did not have any luck. I thought codeshares might be excluded, so I tried JRK-FCO-CTA all on Alitalia metal and that did not work either.

I tried both the English and Italian language sites.

Has anyone had luck getting the discount to apply to transatlantic flights? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

AZ's website isn't known for being functional, sadly. :(

I was able to get the flights to price, eventually on the Italian site, but it was almost $1,400 after the discount. Back to the drawing board.

Sicily in August is probably too dang hot anyway.

Looks like the best bet to combine the discount with the sale US-LHR business fares is to book on the Canadian website with 'SPECIAL20CA'

Unfortunately, it seems that this offer is only available in some markets, not most/all. I haven't been able to check all the 50 or so different markets on www.alitalia.com, but it seems to be available in several European countries (eg: UK, IT, DE, GR - but not FR, CZ) and Canada - but not the US, nor North Africa (EG, MA).

If it is available, it shows up as the first advert in the Flash window on the country home page (the advert shows two shopping trolleys and says "Hurry while it lasts!" in the relevant language). Clicking on the advert then shows the relevant special offer code.

The right code has to be used for the right country website.

I haven't gone as far as finalising a booking, but in markets where it is available, it seems to work for transatlantic flights, including DL codeshares.

If you have problems getting it to accept the code, then clearing cookies (or starting a new incognito window in Chrome) may help (but only in markets where the offer is available, of course).

Of course if you live in America, just log in to the Italy website, or any other version that has the offer. Anyone is allowed to use any of them, doesn't matter where you are.

Is there any way to book tickets including KL segments on alitalia.com?

For my favorite route Alitalia has the best outbound flight, but KLM has the best inbound ones. Alitalia does not codeshare this KLM flight. Any way to book this online?

Other 3rd party websites do offer this on AZ ticket stock. I tried searching by segment on alitalia.com but I cannot get the KLM segment to appear :(

When booking a transatlantic flight on the AZ website AF, KL and DL segments should be selectable as well, at least in some cases, as a consequence of the JV. That includes flights which AZ doesn't have a code-share on. This can't be done on a non-transatlantic flight as far as I have seen.

They showed but when you reach the final stages of the reservation would get an error message. Apparently only works when booking only AZ coded flights.
