I received Royal Ambassador status by receiving a referral certificate from a collegue (I was already a Gold Ambassador). When I received my welcome package it also came with a referral certificate. Does anyone know if I put my member information on the certificate as the person referring will it be valid if I give the certificate to someone else to be referred or will they push it back when they do the account audit?

At this time the best course of action would be to immediately mail the new referral certificate to me. Thank you in advance of mailing.

Usually you don't get an RA cert, if you have been referred. But sometimes some people do - so you're one of them. Enjoy it :)

The real question is whether such certificates are usable in any way. If the Ambassador service center is true to their principles, they should check the (referred) referrer's identity and refuse to honor this certificate.

Hubby & I are both Plat Amb when he was referred as an RA so when he got an RA referral, he passed it on to me. My kit on the other hand did not include an RA invite. I am thankful we got one at all.

my partner got referred by his brother (who is a "proper" RA). when he got his pack it had a referral cert in it. he gave it to me and then I got referral cert. It keeps us staying at IC's :D

This question has been raised here before, but there hasn't really been any actual evidence of this ever happening.
Well done OP - it happens from time to time, and you definitely got lucky!! ^

He did. And I'd advise the OP to give to close family or friend, and do just that. Thank you ^

The real question is whether such certificates are usable in any way.they are, I was in the same position as the OP, the RA Refferal cert I received was able to be used by another FTer.

That's exactly the information I was looking for. I'll go ahead and pass this along to one of my collegues. Thanks to all for the replies!

I get referred every year and always send the cert in without a referring account name or #, no issues. this year, I received a cert with my renewal, gave it to someone else, told them to leave referring name and # blank, they did, no issues, they too got a cret with the kit

I think that OP should call the RA service center and ask what he should be doing with the cert. On the more serious note, it is probably not the best idea to post on a public forum, if you happen to get a referral as well having been referred.

As long as you can't be tracked to your membership/personal details I don't think there's any harm done :)

Luck of the draw.
Long time reader, first time poster.
As long as you received it, it will be valid. I wish I had received another recently. Have a friend who just switched jobs and his company uses the IHG chain of hotels, would've been a great birthday present for him!
If anyone has a spare referral they would spare, shoot me a note =p

Well, maybe IHG changed his policy?
I´m lousy referred RA for many years but I also got a referral certificate these days with my (renewed) referred RA package! :-)
Was it good luck or due to my long year (lousy surreptitiously obtained) RA-membership or is it a back switch in their policies?
Any other current experiences?
