Was tipped off recently that CX might be offering special fares ex-TPE this summer and then noticed CX's TPE website today touting an Early Bird Special on various Economy and Business fares. Purchase is from May 15 to May 31 for travel between June 15 and August 31.
Some of these fares are really quite attractive, especially given that this will be the peak summer season. Transpac J Class fares will book into I.

I find that not all destinations have good prices. e.g. TPE-xHKG-SIN still costs more in summer than other months in I class.

I agree, I priced out BKK myself and its more expensive than the J ticket I did last week.
The SYD fare does look tempting I do say.

Normally it's them adding I class (instead of just J,C and D) for business, or additional cheaper EY sub fareclasses. I have never seen a summer fare sale for F. The only other F subfareclass is A, but F from TPE to North America is usually in the 20k-25k USD ballpark. It makes sense, because CX does not need to load up their F seats using cheaper connecting pax. The highest-paying ex-Asia pax for CX are all based in HK. Whereas J, they do rely on connecting pax to fill up their full supply of J seats, so they're willing to do fare sales ex-TPE, MNL, NRT, etc.
Every time I've been stuck with full J ex-TPE in the last few years I have checked to see (pray) that A inventory is there, but I'm not even sure it exists - I have never, ever seen it available. Not once. Maybe that's because I book late but I have yet to see good deals in F ex-TPE.

Yeah, last year cost me $45K to bring my parents over, and if you factor in our housemaid in J (decided to fly her in J instead of Y) it cost me a good $55K+. I can't do that every year.... :(

Ex-TPE, CX only offers special F deal to YVR at 180000TWD (nett, booked to A), but not any other NA destinations.
So these fares don't allow a stopover inbound to TPE. If I booked a fare to Australia/MEL do you think I would have a problem asking them to just check my bags through to HKG on the return leg? Or does the "no stopover" rule allow a stopover of less than 24 hours?

Just book a overnight transit in HK and tell the checkin agent you need to get your bag in HK. Should be simple enough for them to handle that and when asked you can just say you need to give something to your friend or blah blah blah.

Yes you can ask them to only check in your luggage to HKG. I have done this for many times - the ground check-in agent doesn't care if you are going to forfeit the last leg or not. Just tell them you will recheck the luggage yourself at HKIA and they don't really question more.

Excellent to know, thanks. I suppose I'm just wasting time even looking then as my NA destinations are overwhelmingly JFK, SFO and LAX. And me thinks those who take F to YVR should get it in while it still lasts...that A fare price to YVR is a massive price differential to the other NA destinations!!! Means they don't have enough F demand ex-HKG to fill it.
