National - National Station at Charlotte Airport closed without waiting for delayed arrival

I have been a loyal customer with National Rental Car. But I had a very bad experience with National two weeks ago. I was supposed to fly from Chicago to Charlotte on Sunday evening. But the flight was delayed for about 3 hours due to weather in Chicago. I have clearly given my flight information to National when I booked my reservation. So when I was at the gate waiting for the inbound flight, I got an email from a lady whose title is the station manager at National station at Charlotte airport. Her email said that she found that my flight is delayed and asked me if I was the person who called National and told National to pick up the car in the morning. I replied to her and told her clearly that I did not call and I would pick up the car when I arrive. Then this lady replied to me and asked me for estimated arrival time. I told her 2AM.

I was already on board the plane and was asked to turn off my cell phone after I replied to her. Then the plane left the gate, but waited for another 40 minutes for departure.

What happened is that when I arrived in Charlotte, I found that only Hertz, Avis and Budget had shuttle bus waiting for customers. No National shuttle bus. One Charlotte airport staff told me that National station was already closed.

I could not believe my ear. I told the manager that I would go to pick up the car. And they still closed. Then I checked my email and saw a reply from her. She told me that National will be closed at 2AM. So it took me 45 minutes to get a car from Avis since I did not have a reservation.

The following morning, I did some research and found that National station at CLT airport is supposed to open till 1AM. However, Hertz station at CLT airport is supposed to open till 12:30AM. But Hertz did wait for customers even it was 3 AM.

So I replied to the station manager and told her that I was very disappointed with National. And if National could not guarantee the availability to late arrived customers, I would not choose National. You know what happened? This station manager never replied to me. I guess she does not care about me who get a rental car from National every week.

After several days, I called National customer service and filed a complaint. The agent told me that the station should wait for late arrived customers as long as customers have provided flight information in the reservation. The agent promised me that someone will contact me later.

However, it has been more than one week after I filed the complaint. No one from National has ever contacted me.

So now, I take Hertz.
