All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - What do you want to see from ANA/AMC?

As frequent travelers on ANA, we obviously have reasons behind our preference. However, I'm sure that we all have things we'd like to see them do better. The aim of this thread is to collect your ideas and suggestions to improve the services of ANA and the Mileage Club program.

I'll start:

Allow one-way awards!
Add more substantial food to domestic lounges
Bring back a full range of drinks in domestic economy
Finish rolling out the IOJ product on long-haul routes
Introduce long-haul service to Australasia
Have simultaneous priority boarding on domestic routes
Bring back the 2x e-coupon transfer rate for DIAs
Improve the quality and atmosphere of the Suite Lounges

What are your suggestions?

I'd rather see them get rid of fuel charges on long-haul awards, but I'm not holding my breath.

SFC for overseas members who aren't qualified for credit cards in Japan.

make awards bookable up until 4 hours before NH departures and 12 hours before star alliance departures

1) Showers: Priority shower usage or a few held for DIAs at the ANA Arrival Lounge. For ex., the wait at NRT can be hideous after numerous transpacs arrivals.

2) Premium Economy: Enable DIA to confirm PY seats x days prior to departure. Upgrade PY meals to C meals (without all the snacks and plate meals) to better distinguish its product - For ex., I believe Cathay Pacific and Turkish serve C meals (or a simplified version of their C meals) in PY.

3) Honolulu Route: Better C meals, snack offerings, and seat upgrades to Business Cradle or New Style ANA angled lie-flats on NRT/HND-HNL routes. Please change the aircraft from 763 to 772, not just during peak seasons!

4) Suite Lounge: Sit down meal service at the Suite Lounge to match F lounges of SQ and LH.

5) Non-alcoholic Beverages: Espresso/Cappuccino/Lattes to be added to long haul C. Bring back limited-time only cassis non-alcoholic cocktails.

6) Raffine (Massage): Ability to pay with credit card or Raffine points while receiving a Raffine massage treatment inside the ANA Lounges/Suite Lounges at NRT; currently cash only - incredible nuisance!

I'll second this, and add my request for priority shower use when departing HND. The bank of flights leaving at night can make for a 2-3 hour wait sometimes...

Another: provide hire car transportation to/from HND for pax in paid business and to/from NRT for pax in paid/award first. (Either that, or arrange Green Car seats on the Narita Express / Skyliner...)

1) 3 year limit on miles expiration is really short.
Competitors have 10 years(KE), 15 years(OZ), never expire(DL) etc.
3 years seem fine for frequent travelers but not so good for people who dont travel that much.

2) Mileage earning/redemption program seems too complicated.
From what I understand, there are regular miles, elite miles, points or whatever else there is.
Dont see why they have to make it so complicated.

Add ginger ale to long haul economy, add Sprite to NQ operated routes.

No more shampoo/conditioner packets in NH C lounge.

Improve F amenity kit, the current Thann kit is pretty pathetic like a C kit on other airlines.

Have a proper C amenity kit instead of amenity basket, or at least provide a cheap bag as an option to stuff the individual items.

First class flight to Asia.

I think the first question to the comment is: If there is F, are you paying ?

Seeing how low the demand for F even for long haul, having F for intra-asia would be disaster.

I like them to do their own flights instead of outsource to Air Japan

Why ? NQ provide same meal, same service, same seat, same AVOD to NH flights.

I think you should hope they are not going to switch some of the NQ flights to Peach or Air Asia instead.

Are you referring to SQ F lounge at SIN or The Private Room? I was told that F lounge is being shared by all *A F pax and Private Room is for SQ F pax only

What are ANA serving the Suite Lounge now? It looks good on the website.

Unfortunately it seems like ANA and JAL use each other as a benchmark for their mileage program structure, rather than looking at what their foreign competitors are doing.

He probably meant something akin to LH/LX FCLs or SQ's Private Room. Currently, the Suite Lounges are not much different from the regular ANA Lounges, except the food/drink selection is a bit better (but replenishment is terrible) and you get served a drink and towel when you enter. Oh, and there tends to be fewer people in the lounge due to the entry requirements.

If NH had more flights with F, they could probably justify opening an NH-only F lounge and keep the Suite Lounge for non-NH F passengers, but as it stands that doesn't seem likely. NH seems to think that the 787 doesn't need F, and they seem unlikely to announce any new routes with F in the foreseeable future.

Totally!

Recently, I've been in the SQ F Lounge (not the Private Room in the new SIN terminal), to which NH Diamond is admitted into and the LH Senator Lounges in MUC and FRA. The food variety, quality, and as armagebedar said - replenishment is much better.

I actually almost prefer the the food items in the NH Suite Lounge prior to the recent Inspiration of Japan overhaul. There used to be an assortment of sushi, not just inari and basic bento-box sushi. Appetizers used proscuitto, salami, and roast beef in abundance. Rice crackers, packaged sweets, and chocolates were name brand. They had Fauchon ice cream and Perrier water was available in a can - now a shared bottle.

However, post-Inspiration of Japan, the cheese selection has improved and warm meal items and donburi's at the udon bar are a definitely plus. However, when boarding an F flight shortly thereafter, would you be compelled to eat a chicken donburi or indulge in a hamburger steak when comparable food selections in the F cabin is much more exclusive, sea urchin and crab meat donburi or ANA's famous bacon cheeseburger??!!

From my experience, when boarding C after spending time in the Suite Lounge, the plate dinners and cheese plates served in-flight are better than what's on the ground.

Just my two cents, hope those who can relate understand where I'm coming from.

I really wish they would drop those horrible new Y class fixed back shell seats. I've pretty much dropped flying ANA since they put them in.

Horrible, are they? I guess I'll find out, since the return flight for my upcoming trip to Japan, booked through UA, will be on NH.

Are they worse than the 16.5" wide seats with the 31" pitch? Now those made me feel as if I'd been shoehorned into my seat, and they were such a disappointment after the normal-sized seats and 34"pitch that I had been enjoying.

So, you want me to lose my job? I love flying the ANA brand as Air Japan. It is the best company I have worked for in my 20+ year career. Really, we have the exact same product as the main ANA. We use the same airplanes with the same catering. So what is the real issue with Air Japan?

And yes, I agree they need to hurry up and finish rolling out the IOJ service on all international routes. Especially the NRT-ORD route.

The fixed back seats don't recline so much as rather "slide" forward. It works well in theory if you are below 170cm tall (my estimate, but could be wrong)... but if you are one of those people who's knees touch the seat in front when you sit down then you will be upright for the whole flight.
Cathay tried the same seats a few years back, but due to massive complaints they are now removing them again.
ANA do many things well, but their Y class product doesn't measure up with competitors like CX (new seats), SQ and OZ.

...and don't get me started on the food on the China routes - yikes
