I'm planning a trip to Bali from HNL for 5 in 2013...and somewhere I saw Garuda was pending as a member for one of the alliances. Anybody have any ideas if that is likely to come to fruition?

BTW, SMH discussed that Garuda was recently crowned one of the best airlines in the world. What a fascinating turnaround after the debacle of the last few decades.

With Malaysian gone, it would be a nice replacement and a chance to burn my remaining miles.
On the other hand, the 80,000-100,000 miles DL will charge will for round trip from Japan to Bali is a huge joke and what has caused me to leave Delta.

70K via DL using partners (in J) vs. 60K on UA (in J) isn't a huge difference when you factor in how easily SkyPesos are acquired.
