Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Oh The FQTS/V Madness
perks of the world

Hello Folks,
I would like to seek your advice on a situation i am facing.
I have a reservation with SQ and i called up the reservation center to insert my FFP numbers. Well, i have two, one is with A3 which is a *G number and the other is with OZ's Asiana Club.
I requested the phone's agent to specifically insert my A3 number into the FQTS field and my OZ number into the FQTV field. He did try very hard and even put on hold the phone to check with the helpdesk when multiple attempts failed. According to him, when he has inserted my A3 number into the FQTS, the system initially accepted it. However, upon refreshing the display, the system automatically changed and inserted my SQ number. (I didn't provide at all my SQ number during and after the reseervation was made)
The same scenario occurred with different agents after subsequent calls to the reservation center.
I was informed later by one of the agents that since it's flight operated by SQ, the FQTS field can only accept SQ number, and not numbers from other *A FFP.
I am really puzzled by this especially after reading a lot of successful stories on this regard in this forum.
What am i doing wrong / How should i go around to fix this?
Looking forward to your replies and feedback.
Thanks,

If you are a KF or PPS member, SQ's reservation system will automatically append your number to the reservation whether you have given to them or not. That is why you must apply to SQ KF and tell them that you want your KF/PPS number to record SQ revenue only and you want to use your FFP to earn miles. You tell them which one you want to earn mileage with.
Yes you CANNOT apply one FFP for status for FQTS and another for points - it doesn't work for SQ flights.
For SQ it is useless to do this as having *A isn't to get you upgraded or anything. If you want to earn benefits, you just show the card at check in to say you are *G and you can get priority baggage etc.
If you want *G treatment right up to the gate, then put the *G number on your reservation. Then at the gate, switch it to the *A programme that you want to earn miles in. The gate will only change the FFP for that flight only and your main reservation will maintain the *G number on it.

The agent is right.
There have never been such 'successful' stories regarding this.
It will only work with KF/PPS for revenue tracking.
There is no *G benefit on SQ. So it really doesn't matter which card you put in there.
You can always queue in the priority check in and you can always visit the delicious *G lairs sans showers and with liquid food options @ Changi with a *G card.

When booking online I only ever provide my TG FFP number & never my SQ PPS number, but every time the booking inserts my SQ PPS number & not the TG FFP number. I then have to contact SQ to rectify. If I subsequently change my booking online my TG FFP number is replaced by my SQ PPS number. The system must be finding my SQ PPS number by matching my name.

Even if you book a SQ flight without putting in any FFP number (whether booked by you on line or via any other travel agency website or location, the SQ GDS searches and matches your name to its database of SQ PPS / KF passengers and appends the number to the reservation automatically. This is only done for revenue flights and not on award flights. That is why it is important to tell PPS that you want to earn your points on another programme and they will input that number into your PPS/KF account and when the above happens, you will earn your miles on your preferred FFP and your $ value to PPS only.
Good system I must say ! ^

Dear Guy Betsy,
Thanks for your response and suggestions, it's been well noted.
There's been successful stories about this FQTV/S issue and it's on NZ, where the airline allows FQTS numbers to be non-NZ numbers and FQTV numbers to be the one the pax would like to credit the miles into.
