Hi,

Does anyone know the fare class(es) correspond to award UC seats when checking through flight availability tools?

Many thanks.

Thanks for confirming and this is my understanding too.

However when I look at availability through, for example, KVS I cannot see any G fare class on the result set for the dates when VS website says redemption UC seats are available.

Do I need to map the VS G class to somrthing else?

I believe that VS does not release reward inventry data to sites like KVS (and others of a similar nature) so G's won't appear there.

A poster from kVS comes on this forum every now and again to claim that f you subscribe to their top level membership you can get it, but I have never seen any independent verification of this, and I have been told by people at VS that the only way to find out availability is direct with them by phonE or on their website.

That is correct (AKA CS in the KVS Tool):

You need to use the [Awards/Upgrades] Tab in the KVS Tool, as it is not a part of the Regular Availability.

It is not a "claim", it's a fact -- KVS Tool members have been enjoying easy access to VS Award Availability since we have introduced this functionality back in Jul 2011 ;):

Correct, KVS is just screen scraping the award search on the VS website.

So people might as well just go straight to the VS website rather than using some middleman then going to VS site where the chances are someone has nabbed the seats in the meantime.

Exactly. Never seen the point in KVS, given the wide array of other (free) tools out there on the internet now, as well as how easy it is to see award availability regardless of if you have enough miles on VS' site itself.

Plus - installed Windows software? Really? How 1995....

Some people also don't see a point in travelling in any class higher than Economy -- after all, everyone on the plane gets to their destination at the same time -- there is certainly nothing wrong with that ;). For others, it's different: http://www.KVSTool.com/Member-Testimonials.php

KVS is no doubt a good tool, but is it worth the very high fees just to see VS reward availability that a simple search on the VS web site can show for free. No.

This is a useful feedback to the KVS folks. I have seen enhancment requests for rewards alert to be added to the tool. Not sure why it is not yet implemented.
