OK, a little dramatic maybe, but it went like this.
I booked a NZ domestic flight online, using my BD Diamond Club number (because I am on the cusp of BMI Silver status). Fully flexible ticket. i went to check in at AKL with the machine, and changed my flight to an earlier one. It printed out my boarding pass with the BD DC number on it.
All's well?
I went to the Koru Club lounge, showed the woman at the front desk my NZ Gold card. She said "that's fine, I'll just enter that in". I said, no I want to credit to BMI, I am just using status to access to lounge. She said - that's fine, the system accepts two numbers, i put in NZ for status, BD for earning.
The next day, I have the usual handful of Airbucks on my NZ account, nothing to BMI. I rang NZ and was told at first that "I must have not put the BD number in" when I have the boarding pass with it on it .
The kind woman on the phone checked and saw that yes, the change happened because of NZ's fault.
I am guessing had I simply been patient and not bothered using the Koru Club I might have remained off the NZ Airpoints radar (but I wanted a shower having flown in from LHR).
Just a simple warning about making sure the right account gets credit, and that interactions with NZ when you have both an Airpoints account and another, don't see you earning to the wrong account!
