Hi all -

I have a choice to use my authentically local food experience cert at one of the following locations over the next few months. Any experiences / suggestions among these choices?

San Francisco
San Jose
Chicago
Sonoma Mission Inn
Seattle

Thanks for any thoughts.

I have never used one of these before. Does it just entail one meal for one person?

PS I also received the box of tea as one of my passion selections. Nice fancy wooden box, with 20 tea bags.

Yes, its for one person and the dish is selected by the restaurant. Notice the terms and condition that its for the 'all day dining facility' which means its not for all restaurants at a hotel. Normally just one specific one and it would be good to call ahead or ask at checkin which one.

Then once there they will tell you what it is. Normally they are quite good but I don't have any experience with the hotels you mentioned.

Thanks TravelGuy... I guess I'll just give it a try in San Francisco or Chicago and see how it goes.

I used the ALFE at Fairmont SFO around Dec 11. Took a while for them to realize what the ALFE is. They sent up the duck dish from the restaurant which was quite tasty but nothing to rave about.

I have no idea what the ALE there is, but I think the Sonoma restaurant may be a cut above some of the others on your list (some of which are perhaps not destinations in and of themselves). It's the only one of the group mentioned I've actually dined at, though, so I can't compare, but I can say it was pretty good 18 months ago.

Let us know what you do, please.

I will report back, but it may be a while...

San Francisco stay is in August.

Chicago early September.

Sonoma mid September.

I do not plan to use the ALE in Seattle or San Jose at this point.

I used my ALE in Seattle this Jan - salmon dish, tasty, but frankly there are so many good eats in Seattle ordinarily I wouldn't have used it there (I just forgot about it until near expiry).
