Hilton HHonors - Axon or just pay the 149 euro rate?

I've been reading through the very helpful stickies and can't really decide whether to use an axon award for 4 nights at a category 6 hotel (125,000 HH points), or just pay the 149 euro rate per night. Can anyone offer their opinion? Thanks!
Edit: I just noticed that there is an advance purchase rate of 134 euros.
It really depends on a number of things.
How many points you have currently.
How quickly you earn points.
If you keep the points what do you plan on using them for?
In my opinion,
If you have more points than you know what to do with then use points.
If it takes a long time to accumulate points then just pay the euro rate.

Thanks for your reply. I definitely don't have more points than I know what to do with. :) The axon rate would come close to wiping me out. I do have an asia trip in the fall that I might use points for, or might use spg or hyatt points instead.

The AXON and GLON (4-14 consecutive night) discounts can be enough to sway one to using points, but some properties can have large seasonal variances in the paid rate. You're wise to take a minute to think about it if the paid rate looks appealing.

I'm kind of torn, I have an Axon booked for Edinburg, now I see a Great Getaway rate for 113 pounds taxes paid, total $733/145k = .005. Really leaning towards paying and saving the points for more expensive stays.

To each his own, but in your case I'd definitely save the points. 145k points is almost enough for three nights in New York, where the base rate can easily run to $400-$500 per night. I save points for redemptions in expensive cities like NY, London, Tokyo, Sydney... and for cheap bargain redemptions. Less and less of both at reasonable rates nowadays I'm afraid.

For the same number of points, you can redeem for a room that would 3 times what your looking at.

Pretty much no brainier here. Room rate has to be at least $250-300 before I even consider using points.
Category 6 hotels are 145,000 points for an Axon. Cat 5s are the 125,000 level.
