Has anyone heard anything about what the Chicago airports will be like this weekend? The reason I ask is because it sounds like the city is going to slow to a crawl when NATO moves in 5/18 - 5/21.

I'm flying ORD-AUS on Sunday afternoon and want to gauge whether or not the airport is going to be a mess too.

While I've heard nothing specific.. I doubt there will be anything unusual at ORD. It's not like they'll be holding their meetings in the RCC.

I realize this...And while they're not holding their meetings on Lake Shore Drive, on a boat in Lake Michigan or at Union Station there are plenty of additional security measures in place there. (read: expect delays)

I imagine that there will be diplomats and other officials arriving late and departing early. Not to mention the fact that FAA has restricted the airspace above and around McCormick Place, so I'm sure flight patterns will be altered; even if it's ever so slightly.

Any cited or specific info would be helpful!

It has been discussed in this thread:

If you are concerned about delays at ORD, look at posts #26 and #30. It appears that they have slotted in the arrivals and departures for all of the foreign dignitaries.

The flight restrictions downtown don't apply to commercial flights.

Monday afternoon/evening is when people seem to be expecting airport-related (and 90-94-related) delays due to departing dignitaries.
