Star Alliance - 1 hr. transfer from TG A380 to UA in HKG

I'm contemplating a *A itinerary that would include a one-hour connection in Hong Kong from a Thai flight out of Bangkok to a United flight to the US.
The aircraft on the Thai flight is a new A380 and that's what's giving me pause, largely because I have no experience with how deplaning might go with an aircraft that large. I fear that if the inbound flight is even a little late and deplaning goes slowly, I'll miss the connection.
Any insights or advice would be appreciated.

I thought you wouldn't have a problem but like you , I think the A380 will cause problems. For starters they will not be allowed to park it near 40, where they normally do it, chase up where they park the A380, then work out how far that is away from gate 67. Will do some checking with my SQ friends.

I'll be on the inaugural BKK-NRT in F on Jan 16, 2013. I have a 1 hour, 25 minute connection to NH F (to LAX) on a different ticket. Will I need more leeway?

What airline are you with on the BKK-NRT leg? Star Alliance?
If so, you should be fine at NRT, especially in F.
You will only be subject to a security screen (metal detector and carry-on baggage X-Ray) and not any type of immigration / customs checks and your connecting gate should be a very quick walking distance.

Sorry, should have clarified that I was piggybacking on the TG 380 question.
I'll be arriving on TG on their first 380 flight into NRT.

Hey, cool flight. Nice one.
You should be fine as TG operates out of the same terminal area as NH in NRT.
A quick pass through a security screen and you are back into the departure terminal area.

If your TG is not delayed, you should be able to connect to the UA flight.
Please be reminded that you require extra time for additional security check (for US bound flight) at the gate.

The Thai Airbus A380 will arrive at Gate 15 in Hong Kong, the distance from there to your United departure which is up a floor, and through transit security on another finger, is a hike but doable. To zrs70, don't know, but the Japanese rarely let anyone miss their flights

I have a feeling that TG will use the A380-ready gates (60 or 62) that EK currently has preference use for (due to their lounge location nearby), on the West side of the airport. Flight schedules don't overlap I believe (and TG also has its lounge in that part of the airport), so there shouldn't be any problem.
If the TG A380 really does use the West end, there should be no problem either with connecting to UA since both airlines depart from the same part of the airport (due to special gate preference again in consideration of lounge proximity).
