Where would be the right board to ask about this?

If it's here, or if the Mods move this...

I've seen low end choices like Carmel and Dial 7 to those that charge $150 per trip - would like something in the middle - clean car, reliable, non-crazy (no texting and weaving through traffic) drivers. Any suggestions?

I've used GrounLink and they were pretty good. I priced it out and it quotes $84 one way though (plus tolls). Weird, I thought they'd be cheaper than that.

Where are you seeing these $150/trip prices because it's much less..unless you're talking about a stretch-limo.

I usually pay about $80 with tip on limores.net (%5 off for first booking when you create an account) that's for their standard "luxury" towncar.

I just got a quote of $111 all inclusive from Golden Touch Limos in New York from EWR to Central Park South.

I believe on dial 7 that will probably cover several trips.

A Sedan is in the $45 range, minivan around $60, plus tolls, waiting time, and tips.

Use Elite or Dial 7 - Both will provide a nice car, no more than a 10 min wait and the whole thing will be $45-60 + tip.

Since the query is specific to an airport/region, we'll move this to the NYC forum for further discussion. Thanks! :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

The $150 one was Strusser for actually $145...but it is all inclusive - tips, tolls, waiting, inside meet & greet, but I still think that's very high. I'll look into the other ones mentioned, thanks.

Any suggestions? For a regular sedan, they certainly don't charge that kind of money. Not even close. Dial 7 starts at $46. If you book online, it drops to $44. I use Dial 7.

If you book online, use a coupon:

$150 would have to be for a stretch, not even the higher end regular services like Music Express charge that for a sedan.

Someone like Carey probably charges $150. That would likely include meet-and-greet and a brand new car with a minibar (well, maybe just water). But still overpriced.

I'm thinking of using one of these services. My family of four (my wife and I, 12 and 8 year old) will be flying into EWR later this week (going to the Doubletree Suites Times Square), and Dial 7 minivan sounds convenient and priced right. Approximately how much are the tolls? Do they take credit cards? Is the tip 15-20% of fare?

Dial 7 is a very reliable service with a clean operation. They do take cards but mention it beforehand and they're preauthorize an amount on your card then when you sign in the end it is for the rate+tolls+tip. The tolls vary depending on the route but average out at $13-$15 (Jersey roads+Holland Tunnel). I tip based upon how the driver is. His (they're mostly men) demeanor, car appearance, ease of trip and how they maneuver in route. If it is good I give $15 if it's ok i give $10. if it is bad...you know what I give.

Thanks for the help! I just realized I can hire the sedan for a few bucks less, since we have only three carryons. It will cost me just a little more to get to the hotel this way versus taking the PATH and the subway. Hopefully this way is a little more convenient.

retailmenot would be a good choice to search from.
