Hello!
I just started to travel like mad for work and need to purchase a GOOD carry on bag. I don't want to be that guy that puts the luggage in side ways and would very much prefer to be able to put my luggage wheels first in the overhead.
Right now i'm looking at the Samsonite Silhouette 12, 21in spinner and Briggs and Riley 20in spinner. I actually purchased both since I was not sure and plan to return one.
The samsonite is definitly taller and was not sure if this will fit in the overhead. I typically fly either southwest or united in the domestic US. I realize that United has one of those tiny jets, but i know non of our carryons will actually fit.
Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Would also love to know which one would hold up better, ease of use, etc. Any issues on either luggage would be good to know as well. (to tell the truth, both luggages are pretty ugly :) but the sole purpose is business)
Thanks all! :p

I would think about ditching both of them and going for a Rimowa. Maybe a Salsa Deluxe IATA carry-on, or the new "Salsa Deluxe Hybrid" which has external pockets.
The drawback with the plain case is that there are no external pockets, so you would (probably) have to also have a small briefcase or large purse/wallet with you as well.
The drawback with the hybrid version is that I think it is quite ugly!
The drawback of both of them is the cost.
But this isn't really answering your question. Of the two you actually have I think you'll find that Briggs and Riley commands a lot of respect around here, and the lifetime warranty might come in handy, particularly if you are prone to banging the case up and down steps and along cobbled streets.

Samsonite is the largest brand and recognized everywhere for its mix of style, quality and reliability. Briggs and Riley makes their bags according to customer demand and make light weight bags with life time performance guarantee. They have many designs for different purposes. You can choose any of them which more suits to your purpose.

Take a tape measurer out and measure the dimensions of the bags including wheels and handles. I made a mistake of buying a 21" Samsonite Lift which is actually 23.5" tall.
My bag will NOT fit wheels first on Southwest.

I have the same issue. Samsonite had the Lift model listen on their website as 21" and I found out that is not a correct measurement.

Thanks all for your feedback. I think I'm learning toward the BR. (but it's alittle bit smaller....)
Rimowa is nice too... but a little too pricey.
If there is more feedback, i'd love to hear about it
