Amtrak Guest Rewards - Transferring points out to Choice Hotels?

Hi,

How can I transfer points out of Amtrak to Choice Hotels?

I see a transfer on the AGR web site but it only mentions bringing them INTO Amtrak. I have the MasterCard so from what I've read I should be able to transfer up to 25,000 points out per year.

Is this one of those things I'll have to phone in for, and then wait weeks? I hoped to be able to use points for Choice stays next week.

I figure you should try calling AGR and see what they say, since the sub-link just takes you to the AGR website. That being said, YMMV, but I don't think the transfer would be done in time. They quote 2-4 weeks in the T&C. Then again, it might be less than that; I just don't know.

The limit is 25k for standard and 50k for S, S+ btw.

I did find a "Redeem" Link on AGR site. You don't have to be S/S+ elite. Does require phoning in. The relevant terms for my needs:

•Cardholders of the Amtrak Guest Rewards® MasterCard® issued by Chase Bank with an Amtrak travel spend on the card of over $200 per calendar year, have an annual point transfer limit of 25,000 per year
I haven't reached $200 on my still-new Amtrak MC though, so I'll have to wait it seems.

1.Amtrak Guest Rewards members may redeem Amtrak Guest Rewards points in exchange for Choice Privileges points. Members requesting to exchange points must be a member of both Amtrak Guest Rewards and Choice Privileges to complete the exchange. Both the Amtrak Guest Rewards account and the Choice Privileges account must be in the same name.
2.Amtrak Guest Rewards points can be exchanged for Choice Privileges points by contacting the Amtrak Guest Rewards service center at 1-800-307-5000 or online. Please have your Amtrak Guest Rewards and Choice Privileges member numbers on hand.
3.Amtrak Guest Rewards points will be converted to Choice Privileges points in increments of 5,000 Amtrak Guest Rewards points to 15,000 Choice Privileges points.
