I'm flying for the first time from SEA to PDX (normally i just drive)..

is there a separate terminal or some sort of shortened security process line/area? or just all the same?
it's a 49 min flight. i was hoping not to have to get to airport 1.5 hrs before..
:p
thanks!

It's a 25-30 minute flight.

PDX-SEA passengers can use the elite lane but my experience (which is weekly) is the elite line doesn't save a lot of time depending on the time of day.

I have only flown once from PDX-SEA without connecting and never again. Just easier to drive.

Yes, there is a shorter line as part of the Portland and Spokane Shuttle flight line, it is the same line as the first class/MVP line. It'll save time during rush hour.

Bolt bus is usually around $6 to $8. It's quicker downtown to downtown.

I fly SEA-PDX all the time. Yes, do use the elite security line. Also, because the plane doesn't usually board until about 25 minutes until take off, you can time your planning to arrive at the gate about 30 minutes to take off. Of course, depending on the time of day, you might be able to arrive a few minutes earlier and just get on the plane that is leaving at that time.

Anyway, don't listen to the naysayers. Flying is the way to go. No gridlock, no accidents, no cops on the freeway. Just sit back and let the pilot and crew do the work.

Sounds like Amtrak is also the way to go. :) I did it several times, but as a non-MVP the change fees, etc. make Amtrak or now Bolt Bus better for my downtown to downtown travel needs.

I fly this route a lot too. Wouldn't even think about driving it anymore. Depending on the time of day, you can show up at the airport 45 minutes before flight departure and you'll be fine.

Or take Amtrak. For $35, it's a nice, pleasant ride downtown-to-downtown. :)

ETA: Whoops, beaten to the punch. I had this post composed and ready to go 13 hours ago but have flown 4,940 miles (no wifi) since then and haven't had a chance to get online and click "submit." ;)

Or take Amtrak. For $35, it's a nice, pleasant ride downtown-to-downtown. :)Perhaps but there are only 5 trips a day. When I lived in Seattle and had to visit customers in Portland that were within range of Max, I always flew. The flexibility of "you're not late for one flight, just early for the next" plus not having to stay awake for a 3-hour drive after working all day were the key factors for me.

I used to have to fly that when flights were every 30 minutes all day. That "you're not late for one flight, just early for the next" flexibility was incredible. I once made it from downtown Seattle to downtown Portland in 1:45!

Now that it's on my dime, Bolt Bus looks to be a great option. Don't miss your bus though, right now the first day with any availabilty is 5/21!
