A person in my company might on assignment in SIN for a 3-6 month contract, so at the moment we need something for 3 months with an option for 6 months. Location isn't a concern, and sadly I do not know what the budget for rent to be. Is anyone aware of any realtors that deal with short term expat rentals that they could get me in touch with? Or any websites with good information.

You're pretty much looking at serviced apartments, as in general the min. lease terms here are 2 yrs. With serviced apartments you can select whatever duration you need.

Some of the more popular companies here are:

http://www.parkavenueintl.com/
http://www.lansonplace.com/
http://www.fareasthospitality.com/sr/regencyhouse/about
http://www.somerset.com/

A slightly cheaper one would be Citadines Mount Sophia, or those which are located further away from the heart of the city.

The Straits Times newspaper seems to always have ads for luxury serviced apartments.

Unfortunately rentals in Singapore have shot up tremendously over the last 2 yrs, even I am seeing a 40-50% rise due to this.

I stayed at Lanson near Orchard Rd. no clue on cost though. In front of my condo is a Fraser on River Valley Rd. no clue on cost. Down the street is Great World City serviced apartments which our company frequently uses for long term visitors.

Location of the apartment is less important than the location of the work. You can get lower cost serviced apartments AWAY from the MRT (subway), but then you have to deal with buses or taxis. However, some offer shuttle service. If work is around the CBD/City Hall area, Fraser Suites might be an option - they offer a good shuttle service, and are off the trendy beaten track, relatively. They have 1/2/3 BR units and nice facilities.

Just to chuck an actual figure out there, a friend stayed at GWC recently for a gig of a few months, and forked out northwards of S$10k/month for a pretty modest 2BR apartment. So these definitely don't come cheap. :(

It's also worth remembering that taxis in Singapore are cheap and, outside absolute peak hours, roads are rarely jammed, so it may well make sense to rent a place that's a bit less central and taxi to work instead. Even at 2 taxis/day * 20 days a month * $20 a shot, that's still only $800, or less than 10% of the above rental cost.

Yep, Lanson Place is in the $10k/month region as well.

For a Serviced apartment you will have to spent at least 8000 SGD per month.
There are a few cheaper options than the "Branded" Serviced apartments mentioned in some of the above posts.
But its still exceeding your budget. If your 3000k is refering to SGD, even a furnished apartment on a two-years contract would be quite a challenge to find. In that case you really would have to check the classifieds in the Straitstimes and look in the rooms for rent section.

If you have small kids then GWC is a good choice because right across the street you have one of the best kindergartens in Singapore called Brighton Montessori. Worth keeping in mind... :)

S$6k / month for a studio in The Sail at Marina Bay - good facilities (gym, pools, shopping), walking distance to CBD, weekly maid clean, Internet etc.

Can I ask if you have stayed there and your experience? I am looking at an apartment there later this week, on paper seems perfect but I have read some negative reviews online. Any feedback?

Yes, I've stayed there and had no complaints. Bloody expensive though. Pools can get a bit crowded on the weekend if the sun's out, and there is a bit of background noise from the tower going up next door, but you can't hear that inside.

Plus, there is a Din Tai Fung (dim sum place) in the mall underneath, which is a massive ^ from me!
