I've been lurking for a while here, but I finally decided to take the plunge and ask some questions! Any insight would be appreciated.

1. I'm looking at joining Emerald Club, and I understand that others with the same address are automatically authorized. But I am confused when it comes to the number of drivers allowed. I keep seeing "driver" not used in the plural form (including my correspondence with National customer service when I asked this question) and so I would like to know can I add my brother and parents free of charge (all at the same address)?

2. I'm 21, and I haven't been able to nail down what the underage fee is for EC members, and also if that rate applies to underage additional drivers. I would appreciate it if some light could be shed on this.

3. I live near an airport with no Aisle, just parking spots with EC signs on certain spaces. Can I just pick any vehicle in these spots? I'm guessing that's wishful thinking on my part, but I am curious what the usual procedure is for small airports.

Thanks in advance!

1. As long as you have the same address on the driver's licenses - you'll be fine - no reason to list them - they are automatically authorized drivers which really only comes into play if there's an accident.

2. No idea - I'm assuming you're a college student - if so check with your school to see if there's a "corporate" code applicable which may either waive the fee or lower it.

3. Without an Aisle, the counter (could be the main or the Emerald booth in the garage/lot) will assign you the car, probably one of those in the EC in the right class.

Wow, thanks for the quick response :) I'm glad to get confirmation that everyone from the same household can drive with no additional driver fees. I wish National would change the wording on their website--it's confusing that they call it a "second-driver fee."

Valid additional drivers are described in C3. There's a bit more than a common address required.

Indeed there is. I'm aware of the other requirements needed to qualify, and I should have said "my household" rather than households in general :o
