Flying Blue (Air France, KLM, and Other Partners) - Flying Blue - Rewards in UK/USA?

Hi,

We have flights booked through Delta, flying with AF, in August. Originally, I signed all three of us up for Skymiles membership having seen that you can use Skymiles against hotels and car rental in the USA.

However, I now understand that non-US residents cannot book these rewards, so am considering joining Flying Blue, but wonder what rewards are available to members based in the UK?

Ideally we would like to use miles to book hotels either in the USA or UK - is this possible at all?

It almost never makes sense to use miles for hotels and car rentals. You need loads of miles and don't get much for them. It makes more sense to use miles for flights.

Appreciate that use of miles for hotels isn't the best of uses, but as it is unlikely that we would be travelling very frequently with AF, rather than lose the miles it would be better to use them on hotels. We also have 30,000 AA miles in our family, but as we can't combine them, we will probably end up using them to book two or three nights in a hotel when we next visit the USA.

Thanks for the link. I have checked and it does seem that we could use our miles towards a Hilton stay. Granted, it's not the best use of miles, but as I said above, it is unlikely that we will travel frequently enough with Delta, AF or other Skyteam airlines to get an award flight .
