Swiss International Airlines - Automatic Check-in

So I have opted for automatic check in. If I understand correctly this will check me in at 20 hours before the flight.
Can I still check in before that online - and do I risk the entire thing screwed up?

Any experience on that?

The reason I ask is that I fly one leg with the rest of the famile and they fly on miles tickets (no automatic check in possible) - as we would like to sit all of us together I would rather check us in together before the automatic check-in starts.

I don't know if automatic check-in will screw things up if you have already checked in online (but I doubt it). The opposite seems to be true. Once you are automatically checked in I don't think you can change seats, etc.

Also if you have status they seem to check you in automatically anyway whether you have chosen the option or not.

It's best to check in yourself when OLCI starts and select the seat(s) you want.

Just an update from my side:

Swiss has definitely 24 hours before deadline check-in where the are in control themselves- My experience is firm in for Switzerland Belgium

To answer the original question - which I asked myself: If you have opted for automatic check-in and you decide to check-in yourself before the automatic check-in takes plac (T-20 hours), the automatic check-in will not take place any more, and there fore you keep your seasts and boarding pass issued when checked in yourself.

So someone must have thought this through...
