my question is how does this routing work when it isnt valid at least according to the possible routes in the routing rules and there is no K fare for the city pair?
on jun12 TPA-YYC both united.com and itasoftware show routing TPA-PNS-ORD-YYC
Jun 12 UA 3981 TPA 11:55AM PNS 12:39PM 1h 44m Beech 1900 Economy (K)
Layover in PNS 1h 1m
UA 5820 PNS 1:40PM ORD 4:13PM 2h 33m Embraer ERJ-135/145 Economy (K)
Layover in ORD 4h 2m
UA 6490 ORD 8:15PM YYC 11:00PM 3h 45m Canadair RJ 700 Economy (K)
$257.00
but expertflyer shows no K for that day for the city pair TPA-YYC
united.com shows
City Pairs Fare Class Fare Basis Code
TPA - CHI K KA10KS
CHI - YYC K KA21JS
as the fare basis to get the tpa-pns-ord-yyc
i guess the short form question i have, is how can i be routed to a city that isnt in the routing rules? is this some kind of discrectionary option that the airline has to sell me a seat?
if i use multi city and try to choose those specific 3 flights i get 2 u's and a k on the last leg with a different fare
Tampa (TPA) to Pensacola (PNS) - Tue, Jun 12

OPERATED BY SKYWEST DBA UNITED EXPRESS
Cost per passenger (including taxes & fees) $553.39
Total cost for 1 passenger $553.39
what is the cause of this? i guess the question is when i just choose the origin and destination and let united.com put out fares, it give a K and adds in PNS, if i go multi city and choose the same route myself i cant get it, that is what i would like to sort out. if this is married segment logic interference it seems to be married sometimes, and sometimes not?
