My wife is a GE partner. When she booked Seat + Bag to Melbourne she wasn't able to select seats. When we rang were told its because of the product she purchased. I thought Gold Elite Partner had the same rights as Koru/Gold/GE?

They do-however a Gold/Koru/GE can only select their seats (and have access to space+) if they book the works package. So if you booked seat+ bag for a trip of your own, you wouldn't be able to choose online either.

Or has that changed? (I must admit it nearly a year since I purchased a S2S fare on NZ.)

Actually, yes, I recall I had a choice of two rows on an A320 last year on a T-T seat fare.

Yep - and DJ gold gets this as well.

"Limited" is the key word for advance seat selection when traveling on any fare other than Works or Works Deluxe. Last week on TT I could only select row 12, despite EF showing every seat behind that empty. After phoning in, I deliberatley requested row 26 but even that request was refused due "meal service arrangements". So as it turned out there were 6 Gold or GE jam packed into row 12 and almost every row behind that had a middle seat empty.

that is precisely their booking/seat allocation engine needs to change.... I must say I am very frustrated with the current one where it locks so many/ or too many premium seats.... not really know what the solution is, but I guess they should really block the first 12 rows (on A320 that is) for Koru/G/GE and that they can secure any of these?

There's quite a few issues with the current system-i.e. seat + bag customers with no status can often end up in space+ if they leave their booking until late enough at the expense of a status passenger.

I booked to brisbane 2 weeks ago on seat only, I could not select my seat in the space plus section, which as a gold member I thought you could? when I then upgraded to the works I could suddenly get space plus?

I am also going again this Saturday and tried the same thing, booked seat only and then the works just to get in the premium cabin.

When did this change, I was under the impression that as a gold member that was one of the rewards regardless of your seat package purchased?

Also both flights I was not offered noise cancelling headphones or a fastpass transit ticket through brisbane airport, has this been abolished too

Thanks in advance ^

It's been like this for over a year now I think. Originally they were scrapping space+ altogether (on the A320), we kicked up a stink and then they compromised on space+ for status pax who purchase works.

No, this is on the 777, bar 1 on the 320, and I have encountered this many times over the last 8 months?

Oh yeah I know, but that was the compromise after the complaints over space+ on the A320, that it would be retained, but those with status had to purchase the works to access space+ on any of the Tasman/Pacific flights.

Hey guys,

My mum just became a Gold Elite partner and she is still unable to select seats in the Space + for her domestic flights, is this a glitch?

She booked them prior to this "status" taking effect.

If there were space+ seats available ahead of you in row 12 or preferred seating seats then shouldn't these have opened up to you 48 hours before travel.
The airnz site states
Quote" If there are any Preferred or Exit Row Seats still available 48 hours before travel, Gold Elite, Gold and Koru members will be able to select these free of charge as an additional benefit."

I guess it states preferred seats and not space plus although I would have assumed this should have also been made available? Pretty crappy if that's the case.

She should be able to book space + GE partner on NZ metal is essentially treated the same as GE or at least was 3 months ago (I and therefore my wife lost GE/GE partner)

Just ring up and select them. Note that if any of these flights are Night Rider flights, you won't be able to get row 12 or forward seats free until 48 hours beforehand.
