Africa - Interline from LAM Mozambique to SAA?

Hi,

I'm going next week from Maputo to Joburg on LAM and then have 2:10 to connect to SAA going to JFK - two different PNRs. Arrive 18:30 and depart 20:40.

When I asked at the airport during a domestic flight, reservations staff for both LAM and SAA said that I could NOT interline bags between my flights and would have to collect them. Does anyone have any idea if this is indeed the case?

If I can't interline, and need to go through immigration, collect bags, and then go back through security and immigration, is 2:10 a crazy amount of time to leave to do it?

I know 7pm is a busy time at JNB - I'm Star Gold though I don't know if that will help me at JNB security?

Thanks!

How did it go? I've flown JNB-MPM on LAM connecting in and out of JNB on SAA flights several times and my bags have always gone through. Not sure about your case with separate PNRs though...

Cheers,
Ben
