India-based Airlines - AirIndia Flights disruption

Hello All,
With the ongoing strikes and flight cancellations, I was wondering what options are being typically offered to passengers whose reservations are impacted. Getting through to their customer service is very hard, and am unable to extract an answer from them. My flight leaves ORD to DEL on 5/15.
Rescheduling to the next couple of days may not eliminate the uncertainty. Is there a chance they would route through a different airline if the flight is cancelled?

Air India's contingency plan begins tomorrow. ORD will be served through a European airport (FRA or CDG if I remember right...). You should be able to make it into Delhi the day you are scheduled to fly, although it will take longer obviously... I think AI is still waiting on gov't approval of a some European governments, but hopefully it will all get smoothed out tomorrow.
If your flight is cancelled, AI staff can endorse you onto another airline, even if your ticket is non-endorsable. However, I would have a few options in mind to tell the staff (written down), and make sure availability is there.

Yes, they most certainly can. Whether they will or not is a different question, but a little insistence should do the trick, especially if you are armed with info such as which flight you want to go on and what the availability is.

I was told by AI staff that in the event the flight will be cancelled, AI would make alternative arrangements at the airport. They refused to elaborate on that that specific arrangement would be :-)
So far, the Chicago Del segment seems to be be operating per schedule.

That's because the specific arrangement can vary drastically for people, even if they are on the same flight.

Yeah. Hopefully that stays for tomorrow.

Does any one know about LHR (night departure) to DEL to HYD flight. My brother is planning to take the flight, but not for another two weeks.

There should be minimal effect in 2 weeks time.

How did it work out for you?
It appears that contingency plans are working as expected - AI is operating DEL-CDG-JFK and DEL-FRA-ORD to cover those destinations. BOM-LHR/DEL-LHR and BOM-PVG/DEL-PVG have been merged to fly BOM-DEL-LHR and BOM-DEL-PVG.
Looks like BOM-EWR, DEL-YYZ, and HKG pax have been rebooked onto LH and CX respectively.
Regional destinations like BKK and SIN are being operated by A320s (ICPA)

LHR-DEL is operating as scheduled. DEL-HYD-DEL is not. I am not sure whether they are subbing an A320 or just pushing people over to the next morning flight.

My aunt travelled del-ord today morning. Was pretty smooth. The departure was preponed by an hour and stopped at fra. Though I had a tough time explaining to her you will be halting at fra for an hour and a half. She kept maintaining her flight is direct. Was absolutely not ready to listen!!!

Hate to break it to you, but she was right. Her flight was direct (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_flight).
And we all know wiki is always right ;) ;)

Closing the loop in this. The flights from ORD to DEL departed per original time slot and landed ahead of schedule. Good job AI.
