my wife has a domestic round trip flight after a week or 10 days from today. i know advantage requires 21 advance bookings or a fee but this trip wasn't sure until today.
from ORD to LGA & 3 days later, from BUFF to ORD.
let's say May 20th to LGA . May 23rd from Buffalo NY to ORD.
We have advantage and united miles and also have chase UR points on ink bold.

on aa it will take 50k mi + $75 * airport taxes for your dates....way less than than 1 cent per mi....not a good deal....
saver awards are available on days other than yours for 25k rt....but that is still not much value per mi...
do you need help using the ua site?

No, no advance booking with BA.
Before you transfer your UR, make sure there is MileSAAver availability on your desired dates. There is none for the dates/routes you mentioned in your OP. Feel free to post your exact dates / flexibility so someone can help you more thoroughly.

so you mean check to make sure that the round trip or 2 one ways are 7500 avios each on british account before i transfer UR points right?
if i see the 2 one ways for 15k avios and no fee except for the $5, i can instantly transfer chase UR points to british account and book the flight right?
again, my wife's scheduled trip is around may 20th. and returning few days later.
thanks
to update on what we have, we have the existing CITI AA VISA AND AMEX personal cards applied last year with 200k miles left. we also recently applied for for the CITI BIZ VISA and working on finishing the $3K spend req for 50k miles. we have chase cards with UR points and the new chase UME with 55k miles.

When you search for award travel on AA, the very first option (12.5k) is called Economy MileSAAver. Those are the only type of AA awards bookable through BA. So let's say if a flight only has AAnytime awards (25k) available, you will not be able to book those via BA.

Right now there is plenty of MileSAAver available for May 21 ORD>LGA. So you can at least score that segment by transferring UR > BA (7.5k miles).
There is no SAAver availability around your desired return date of May 23. In which case you can bite the bullet and pay the AAnytime miles (25k) for the return segment + $75 fee -or- simply book a paid fare for $200-ish.
US Airways (star alliance) has Low availability for the 23rd BUF-ORD via PHL but that seems hardly worth it as you will pay nearly $110 in fees plus 12.5k UA miles vs just buying a ticket for $200.
Of course you can always use UR points to pay for the ticket in part or in full at a value of 1.25cents

Correct. As a tip, always check the routing for the available SAAver awards, as if it's not a direct flight, you will pay more (miles) as BA charges on a per-segment basis.
Of course, BA booking system is a little glitch-y, so always log-on to your BA account and see if the desired AA SAAver flights are showing up on the BA booking engine. If they are not, you will have to call BA and book it manually, which may result in a telephone booking fee of $25.

United miles have nothing to do with BA. UR (Ultimate Rewards) is transferable to BA, instantaneously AFAIK.
To clarify what I said in my earlier post ... "There is no SAAver availability around your desired return date of May 23. In which case you can bite the bullet and pay the AAnytime miles (25k) for the return segment + $75 fee -or- simply book a paid fare for $200-ish."
I was referring to booking this using your AA miles.

thanks, here is another question,
can i just use the new CITI AA card that gives $150 after any spend related to aa purchase? can i book flight on british airways using avios ( ur transfered from chase) but pay the $2 or $5 tax with the new citi AA card and get $150 statement credit?
can i use the citi card just for a in flight snack or drink purchase to get the $150 statement credit?
or the flight also have to be book with aa miles on aa.com first to get my $150 statement credit?
thanks

You're welcome. I don't have any personal experience with the $150 credit as it wasn't part of my AA card, but visit this thread for some tips on how to activate the credit: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/credit-card-programs/1333044-citi-aa-150-00-statement-credit.html
One thing I can tell you which won't work is the $2.50 surcharge for booking via BA as that charge is processed by British Airways, not AA.

Sure. It won't activate the $150 AA statement credit AFAIK but yes you can use any credit card to make your BA booking if that's what you meant. ^

what i mean was book domestic trip on BA using the points transfered from CHASE UR and there is a $2 to $5 fee that needs to be paid with a card and since i don't have British airways card, I can pay that with any card? if yes, i can pay with my CITI AA card
