Emirates Skywards - No Saver fares available only Flex

Hey guys,

got a (maybe stupid) question for you? I'm looking to fly to LAX in July/August in J. Altough I'm stationed in DXB I'm always looking for cheaper fares out of nearby cities. So I checked for flights out of CAI to the US in March and found J fares for as low as $2000. I couldn't buy a ticket at that time as I did not know when my holidays would start (turns out that this was a big mistake).

Now I can't find any J fares below $6500 out of CAI and this is not only for the months of July/August but from now until next year constant. So I checked whether these were saver or flex fares. Turns out that all fares are flex. I can't find a single saver fare from now until next year. Is that even possible? Kind of strange isn't it especially since they offer special fares from around $3000 on their website.

Now my question is: Does this really mean only flex fares and no more saver fares are available out of CAI or is it a gltich? Should I call an Emirates office and ask if there is a saver fare available?

Can someone please enlighten me. I fell kind of stupid to ask this question but I have never seen this before.

Thanks guys

Cheapest I can find after a quick check is $4K ex CMB in J in either mid Jul or mid Aug, which means you still have to buy a cheap positioning flight to Sri Lanka...

Thanks eightblack. I'm currently also looking for other options and CMB seems the best at the moment.

Yet still I'm hoping that CAI gets back anywhere near the prices of two months ago by offering saver fares and not only flex fares. Do you think the will become available again or will it remain flex only???

It looks like EK is no longer offering cheap fares to USA out of Cairo. There are plenty of airlines offering cheap prices though such as LH, DL, AF, TK, AA, EY, BA and GF with prices exc tax and ( where applicable ) fuel fines from $1500

Ok, so here's how it works. EK doesn't always offer Saver fares in premium cabins. Usually, some sale fares (O) will be Saver, but if there's no sale fare around, the cheapest available would be flex.

This is different from in Y, where the 'normal' fares B, M are saver and W,R,E,Y are flex. When there's a sale, you'll also find T, X, Q, U etc which are also Saver.

The $2000 fare you saw earlier may also have been a flex fare, perhaps EK has just raised their prices out of CAI. Even the fares ex-CMB are significantly higher than they used to be a year ago, for example.

Christmas is over. EK readjusted the fare pricing a while ago. Business class fares were doubled. I was looking at a trip to SFO this July ex-CAI, now it's off the radar.

Thanks ung1 for the helpfull clarification.

The only thing that still bugs me is that they are offering special J fares starting from $2800 on their website out of CAI. And this offer is valid until 31st of Dec. 12. I know that these fares are always subject to availability but I couldn't find a single day from now until the end of the year where these special fares would apply.

The fares are there alright on the EK website but they don't show through EF anymore.
