Can a redemption be booked as a zone 1-3-3-2 return I ask because I am looking to book a redemption to Mexico and want to avoid the Mexican VAT by booking it as a return. Being unable to use any LH group flights I cant find flights back to zone 1 only zone 2

Thanks

Yes no problem with that. They will probably calculate it as two separate awards (ie z1-Z3, then Z3-Z2), but from a ticketing and tax point of view it will be one return ticket.

ps - my 1000th post (I know nothing compared to most on flyertalk, but my own little record at least).

Thank you ^ and congratulations on the 1K.. I still have a long way to go.

Just a thought will this award be 67500 for a return booking , or 75000 for 2 X 1 ways

Technically you shouldn't pay the Mexican VAT anyway because your ticket has no cost (since you're using miles) - but DC usually always add this on incorrectly so it means fighting with them to get it removed. But you can of course avoid that by booking a return in the first place.

For J
Z1-3 is 33750 (or M+C 18750 + £105)
Z3-2 is 37500 (or M+C 18750 + £127.50)
=71250

Unless the agents are on the ball they might just calculate it as a Z1-3 return in which case you'd be lucky - but it should be as above.

I've had a Z1-Z3, Z3-Z2-Z1 offered and initially sold as a Z1-Z3 return before now, albeit until someone else realised there was a stopover included in Z2.
Became a Z1-Z3, Z3-Z2, Z2-Z1 in the end which is what I told them I was expecting to pay originally.
