Hertz - Better vehicle for 6 adults + luggage

I was reading some of the Hertz reviews here on FT about the QX56, Cadillac Escalade, and MB GL but I am looking to rent a vehicle to help cart around people during my sister's wedding.

According to the specs, the Escalade should have more cargo room for suitcases, but the Hertz website says the QX56 actually can carry more bags. My guess is the 6 of us will have 3 carry on bags. Since it's my sister's wedding I was thinking about leaning with the Prestige vehicles to drive her around in something nicer. Any tips / experiences? This would be from the Miami AP also.

Appreciate the advice!

With 6 people - forget the std Escalade or Yukon/Tahoe - you will need all 3 rows of seats and there wont be any room behind the third row for any luggage. However if you can get a Yukon XL or a Suburban then you will have loads of room for everyone and luggage.

The Traverse/Enclave/Acadia is not bad but room is still limited behind the third row but much better than the Escalade/Tahoe/Yukon.

Thanks - The lady on the phone said I can use my points for a Yukon XL / Suburban, but it may not be as nice as the QX56 (which she said has the most room for a prestige). What I thought was funny was her suggestion to actually goto a dealership and look at both vehicles since the website doesn't seem to know for sure on vehicles. The Miami location was useless as well.

Did you look at this thread in your research? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz/1310701-gl450-visa-infiniti-qx56.html

Just got this from the USNews car rankings pages etc

The Infiniti QX56 has more cargo space than most in its class, despite its shorter wheelbase. Behind the third-row seat, there is 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space

however the Suburban/Yukon XL when the third-row seats are in place, there is 45.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

How can you get a Yukon XL / Suburban with points? On the list of available redemptions I don't see one that matches that class of vehicle. If you can get one with points that would be very helpful for one of my upcoming trips.

book a car with points, then change the reservation, it will give you the choice of all the cars you can have... done it three times

I'm assuming you mean this would work if I booked the closest points reward they have to a Suburban class vehicle - Specialty ought to do the trick. Or do you mean it would work with just a normal free rental award? I'd think not since a Suburban (T6?) is above premium and premium is supposed to be the highest size class on a normal free rental award.

Let me explain, I have a current booking using 1000 points, for a two day rental at ORF, when I made the booking the highest group car I could have was premium (maxima). I confirmed that booking, and received my confirmation number and email etc.

I then went back into the booking, and chose the link for change vehicle, this then bought up a list of all cars at ORF for that date, and I was then able to change the car to a Yukon. and still using only 1000 points as per the original booking infact I only had 80 points left.
