Alitalia MilleMiglia - Alitalia: upgrade available from K, V, TView Full Version : Alitalia: upgrade available from K, V, T Alice11 May 11, 12, 7:59 am http://www.alitalia.com/IT_IT/millemiglia/redeeming_miles/upgrading/index.aspx bungler May 11, 12, 11:04 am Interesting. JGfromOC May 11, 12, 11:10 am Too bad I can't us my DL Skymiles to upgrade on my flight :( Unless somebody has any ideas. terminalfive May 12, 12, 3:12 am Are these the same booking classes as the Upgrades given 2 x to Freccia Alata or are they 'lower' Tried to book an economy flight to London in Eco using Freccia Alata upgrades and they told me the ticket would cost 600 euros!!! J was cheaper ( non flex obviously ) bungler May 13, 12, 10:44 pm Starting at T, which is a relatively low booking class, the lowest offering 100% miles, the next highest are V, then K, then H, then M, then Y and B which are both the highest. Your FA/FA+ upgrades are only available from H or higher, and seeing that the FA upgrades unlike the FA+ ones are only for Ottima or Classica Plus (not Magnifica), they're not much use. This new K, V, T upgrade? Let's take a look: On Rome-London and similar routes (short-haul), the T-class is already more expensive than Business class. On Rome-Cairo (medium-haul), the T-class is around €500, and the business class is €800. The upgrade at 21000 miles is therefore looking a little expensive. However on long-haul this upgrade might be interesting. Taking FCO-LAX as an example, the T-class is costing €1235,46 which is over 1200 euros less than the business class. You can save that amount of money by using this upgrade with 35000 miles, which seems a fair deal, seeing also that you still get 100% miles for the trip unlike on awards, so in reality this business class flight has costed you €1246,43 and 22320 miles or even less if you have status (if you are FA+ you will only spend 9640 miles thanks to the bonus miles). --EDIT: Do note though that the upgrade is one way, so for a return flight in Business (using the above example) it's actually 57320 miles, or 44640 for FA+ members. It may be worth upgrading just one way and getting a "mixed" award using €1246,43 and 22320 or less miles (normal price of mixed award paying only taxes: 65000 miles). THEsocalledfan May 16, 12, 9:05 am Don't they offer a way just to pay for an upgrade from economy to plus within 24 hours of departure? |
