Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Possible to retain 15% online redemption discount when getting agent to intervene?

As a part of a J Saver booking made online, I have the following situation.

BNE-SIN confirmed
SIN-FRA confirmed

FRA-SIN waitlist
SIN-BNE confirmed

Now, the situation is that there are two FRA-SIN flights on that day,
SQ25 departs FRA 1235 arrives SIN 0635+1 - available
SQ325 departs FRA 2200 arrives SIN 1615+1 - waitlist only

My confirmed SIN-BNE flight leaves SIN at 2115, and none of the earlier SIN-BNE flights that day have J saver availability.

My problem is that the website only presents two options: SQ25 connecting on to the morning SIN-BNE flight (thus available FRA-SIN, waitlist SIN-BNE), or SQ325 connecting on to the night SIN-BNE flight (thus waitlist FRA-SIN, available SIN-BNE).

I'm quite happy to take the long layover in SIN, and confirm the two available flights, but that is not an option on the website.

I've tried ringing two different agents, both who advise that I'll lose the 15% discount if they try to touch my booking to confirm me on the available SQ25.

Is this true, or does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

I have previously had telephone agents assist with waitlisted bookings I had made online.

I use a phrase like "I wonder if you can help me, I'm having trouble using the website......"

They know the website is suss, leverage that insecurity.

I created another thread recently based on experiences of my dad's waitlisting on the business class flights. He was travelling CGK-LHR return.

But he was waitlisted on a return flight date and then they called him up to offer him a different flight a few days earlier and honoured the 15%. He was to to call up regarding the waitlist and to monitor it.

When he got to London, he called them up and there were different stories each time he called up but ultimately, he was not allowed to change his booking without loosing the 15%.

Others have posted back saying they managed to keep the 15% on calling up though.

PS - if someone can teach me how to create links to other threads it would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. Tried this today, worked perfectly. I was a bit concerned initially, because by the time I rang up again, SQ25 was now showing as waitlist when married with the SIN-BNE flight, but showing as available when standalone as FRA-SIN.

Regardless, I rang up, and the agent confirmed the limitation of the website and confirmed that what I wanted was a valid routing that could not be booked on the website. However, I couldn't be confirmed on the phone as SQ25 was by then waitlisted when married with SIN-BNE, but the agent put me on the waitlist regardless. Within 2 minutes of terminating the phone call, I received the SMS confirming the waitlist had cleared, and a minute after that, the agent rang me back with the same news.

Also, they agreed to honour the 15% online discount since it was a limitation of the web site.

Have a great trip. I also travel in/out of BNE on SQ and hope we are clashing for the same seats!
